El Valle de Antón is a truly unique and captivating village, found in the centre of an enormous crater from a (happily extinct!) volcano, set 60 miles from Panama City in the region’s Coclé Province.
Expect endlessly romantic scenes of mist-covered mountains – part of the protected Natural Monument Cerro Gaital – peppered with lush creeks and a flowing stream from this beautiful, wildlife-steeped village; the ideal antidote to hectic life back home! Add the trademark warmth and friendliness of the local residents, and the calm pace of life lived here, and your tranquil setting for rest and relaxation is complete.
With its natural swimming pool, stunning observation veranda and twelve cosy ensuite bedrooms, a stay at Canopy Lodge allows you to immerse your senses in all the tropical pleasures of the natural world.
Discover a selection of eight double and corner rooms in the main building, each featuring a balcony that looks across the garden and the sparkling Rio Guayabo stream. This is a balcony you won’t want to tear yourself away from any time soon, so don’t forget to pack a good book and a pair of binoculars!
Single travellers can choose from four single rooms, each complete with a wall of windows that allows light to flood inside, as well as providing exceptional garden views.
While away some time on the observation veranda, built for relaxation and birdwatching alike. Observe a stunning array of birds as they drop by for food, from tanagers and motmots to the colourful aracari. Bird guides are available from the Lodge’s well-stocked library (which also houses an array of English and Spanish novels)…by the end of your stay you’ll be hooked on identifying your feathered friends!
In the Canopy Lodge’s open air dining room, all meals are served family style and offer a wide range of Panamanian and international cuisine. Wine is complimentary with dinner, and of course there is always dessert!
