24 May 2018

Views glorious views! We’d be lying if we said our Host Unusual escapes didn’t usually come with some jaw-dropping scenes to admire from your temporary home… and many even from your bed! Add a glass frame or ceiling-to-floor glass frontage to the equation and you have your very own window to nirvana. Take these three new arrivals in New Zealand, Iceland and Spain, all within our brand new Glass Lodges category and each giving you a reason to never want to leave. I mean, why would you with such undeniable eye candy?

Pohue Purepod, New Zealand

Prepare yourself for total off-grid relaxation in the middle of New Zealand’s breathtaking natural vistas, from the comfort and blissful seclusion of your very own glass cabin! This is PurePod, which is a new and immersive experience across four locations, three of which are north of Christchurch and this, Purepod Pohue – the latest opening in Port Levy south of the city – is blissfully secluded in native bushland that overlooks Port Levy Bay. Everything you need has been lovingly provided, from comfy deck chairs, a barbecue and gas hob, to crisp linen, local reference books and a telescope for you to enjoy that exceptional night sky in all its starry magnificence through your own glass roof. Those looking to explore the area will find the famed Acropolis outcrop where blazing sunsets await, whilst the Banks Peninsula offers a beautiful array of hiking trails and nearby Akaroa is the place for a spot of kayaking or swimming with dolphins.

Panorama Glass Lodge, Iceland

Another brand new experience, Panorama Glass Lodge (above and main image) offers the chance to luxuriate in the magnificence of the vast Icelandic sky, from the private comfort of a gleaming glass cabin with unrivalled panoramic views. Whether or not the Northern Lights decide to make an appearance during your stay, the lodge offers a true ‘bucket list’ experience that rivals no other, just 30 minutes from the lively capital city of Reykjavik. Imagine drifting off to sleep under the stars, or savouring all the charms of the spectacular midnight sun during summertime, all the while enjoying the blissful sensation of floating in an enormous sky. Picture indulging in a glass of bubbles in your very own private hot tub as the Northern Lights dance over the secluded horizon, before watching sunbathing seals and the occasional whale out in the glistening fjord beyond. If that hasn’t sold you, we’re not sure what will!

Casa X, Spain

There’s something wonderfully mysterious about the letter X. Stretching out in all directions, it holds alluring promises of the exotic. Casa X was designed and built in the shape of this captivating letter, by award-winning architects Cadaval & Sola-Morales, well-known for their boldly eye-catching structures. Drenched in luxury, discover this unique four bedroomed house at the top of a hill in historic Cabrils, full of tranquility yet conveniently situated just outside Barcelona. And the views? Think soothing mountain and pine valleys, with the distant Mediterranean Sea and of course the infamous buzzing Catalan metropolis sparkling in all its vibrant glory- a true feast for the eyes made possible by the incredible glass frontage, and not forgetting the glass roof terrace that winds around the house. Featuring a sauna, Jacuzzi and infinity pool, this is certainly a place for contemplative relaxation, in style and sophistication.
