With around 200 dedicated cycling trails gracing the UK alone, it’s never been easier to plan a scenic holiday on two wheels.
Whizz your way along the 180-mile Tarka Trail, enjoy family-friendly heritage routes like Hadrian’s Cycleway, or go off the beaten track in the Elan Valley and see Wales in all its rich rural finery.
You’ve even got the option to cycle all the way from Land’s End to John O’Groats – on an iconic and beautiful route known as LEJOG – for a whopping 1,189 miles, should the mood take you!
Prefer a change of scenery? Handy sites like the EuroVelo cycle route network will easily connect you with some of the loveliest ways to explore Europe by bike (we’re particular fans of the Sun Route, which takes in Norway’s spectacular midnight sun and finishes on the beach in Malta).
Whether you’re planning a dedicated bikepacking trip with the whole family, or you just want to bring your bike and explore at your own leisure, we’ve picked these cyclist-friendly retreats especially for you.
You’ll find each one is situated near a particular cycling route, and/or has facilities for cyclists, such as storage or bike hire.
