Our latest additions to Host Unusual includetwo magnificent Scottish 5-star holiday retreats sculpted from stone, turf andgrass, an idyllic eco-cottage and shepherd’s hut set in orchards and meadows, and a romantic, rustic windmill retreat for two.
Firstly, The Stonehouses are a pair oftruly exquisite holiday properties – Curved Stone House and Treetop House  – perched up above Loch Broom near Ullapool inScotland’s West Highlands. The stunning architect-designed eco-friendlyretreats are a sight to behold both inside and out. Sculpted from stone, turfand grass, you’ll find they are anything but primitive inside; both are utterlyluxurious, spacious and modern, and each property also features its own privatesauna – the ideal place to relax and unwind after a day’s exploration of thisawe-inspiring location.  The panoramicviews are spectacular, and as you’re only 10 minutes’ walk from the centre ofvibrant Ullapool you can be as sociable or reclusive as you wish!
Next up is the quite sublime Wild Meadow inRadnorshire – home to the delightful eco-friendly Meadow Cottage and an equallygorgeous Shepherd’s Hut. Wild Meadow has been featured in The Telegraph‘s list of places tostay ‘for a taste of horticultural heaven’, which is more than a hint of thedelights which lay in store here. Situated next to the kitchen garden (yum!),Meadow Cottage has been crafted from natural materials for superb greencredentials. Inside, it is light and spacious, with wooden beams and latchdoors adding a healthy dose of country charm. The pet-friendly Shepherd’s Hutcan sleep up to two adults and two children, and doesn’t compromise on home comfortsdespite its small yet perfectly formed size – guests will find features such asreal wood floors, electric lights, a wood burning stove and an outdoor coveredkitchen to name but a few.
Finally, if you are looking for a uniqueand romantic luxury retreat for 2 with an abundance of rustic charm, Old Smock Millwill certainly appeal. This ingeniously restored historic Kentish mill enjoys 360-degreepanoramic countryside views from the private staging which encircles the entirebuilding.
