New to Host Unusual: The Sleepout, Longlands, Into the Woods and Down on the Farm

30 January 2017

The recent biting cold and frost have done very little todampen our spirits or freeze our enthusiasm for finding new, unique andenticing places for you to explore this year.  The theme for our newest collectionof properties is the Great Outdoors, with four incredible spots for you toappreciate the beautiful British countryside, as far-reaching as Scotland inthe north to the Isle of Wight in the south.
The Sleepout

We start our adventure at The Sleepout, a playful den-likeretreat with its own pizza oven, lovingly handcrafted to perfection by resident’Man of the Woods’ Mike – a professional tree surgeon! Perfectly positioned inthe Welsh countryside to fully immerse yourself in nature and rural life, thisis also a great place for wildlife spotting, with otters, badgers, woodpeckersand more residing here. Try to factor in a visit to Powys Castle for killerviews of the Welsh valleys and take in that pure, fresh air.

Longlands

Heading due south we reach North Devon, a designated Area ofOutstanding Natural Beauty and a tantalising mix of luxury and simplicity inthe form of five safari lodges at Longlands. Another wildlife haven, set on a17-acre site of green bliss and undulating hills, the site is award-winning forits sustainable approach to tourism and is just 20 minutes from Woolacombebeach, voted Britain’s best beach for the past 2 years.  Both on andoffsite, this is a place to really appreciate the outdoors in style.

Into the Woods

Over to the Isle of Wight now via a short and scenic ferryride, and Into the Woods we go!  Our location is the North Coast, apicturesque area of the island and a woodland setting that seems perfect forthe fairytale treehouse and shepherd’s huts that guests will discover here.Authentic and hand-built, both of these wonderful abodes offer privacy andseclusion. The site also has a communal den, so it could be a great option fora family or small group to rent both accommodations – the ultimate relaxingseaside break!

Down on the Farm

Our final stop sees us journey north to a place of completetranquility in rural Aberdeenshire; a landscape of rolling hills andbreathtaking coastline. At Down on the Farm you’ll get to choose between HighSea Hobbits  – cosy cylindrical pods in their own field, Coastal Carriage- a hilltop retreat with panoramic views of Moray Firth, and the newestaddition to the family, Harvest Hut – an ex-farm workers hut lovingly restoredand re-awakened; a perfect off-grid bolthole in the heart of the Scottishcountryside.
