Join our excitement as we announce yet morenew quirky accommodation experiences here at Host Unusual. It is our aim toprovide an antidote to the standard hotel model of old and with these newarrivals we have definitely ticked the box. We start by plying the waters ofthe Thames on a colourful barge with excellent hosts who will tailor yourexperience to you. A similarly bespoke adventure awaits at Oxford Yurt wherefun, laughter and good times are on tap. Next a natural glamping retreat filledwith wildlife amidst some of Somerset’s finest scenery, before ending with acute hidden pod and ‘Secret Garden’, complete with wooden hot tub that ignitesboth fantasy and intrigue in the heart of Kent.

Experience a carefree aqua-adventure andpeaceful alternative life, gently plying the waters of the River Thames, with astay on Art Deco Barge.  This roomy barge is hosted by owners Dave andJoyce who converted it in 2014 and now invite two lucky guests to join them asthey cruise the waterways, taking care of everything during your stay includingmeals. Navigating a route between Kingston-upon-Thames and Oxford, you’ll passby many scenic stops such as Windsor, Hampton Court and Henley, with plenty ofplaces to disembark and explore.
 
The Oxford Yurt

For a group weekend with your favouritepeople in one place and not one hint of a dull moment, look no further than TheOxford Yurt!  Owner Sarah has created an ideal setting for hen parties andgroup celebrations, with eco-friendly accommodation ranging from a largegeodome sleeping 13 and yurts sleeping 8 and 12.  Activities range fromwine tasting to fancy dress, Bollywood dancing to mixology, life drawing todrumming workshops. Add communal dining to the fun atmosphere and you have awinning formula!
 
Old Summer Dairy

Wildflowers, wildlife, fresh air andnature: they all abound here at Old Summer Dairy, where being off-grid,switching off your phones and tapping into your inner naturalist are order ofthe day. Your setting is Somerset and with a great vantage point over to GlastonburyTor you are spoilt for postcard views. Choose to stay in either a magnificentlycrafted wood-framed log cabin or one of the roomy 6-metre bell tents. Wildlifeenthusiasts will love it here, with roe deer, badgers, rabbits, hares andresident Pipistrelle bats amongst the locals to meet.
 
A Secret Garden

Inspired by the novel by Frances HodgsonBurnett, this unlocked garden oasis with a hidden bedroom evokes the samechildhood mystery and curiosity.  Located within easy reach of bothhistoric Canterbury and popular Whitstable, two of the Garden of England’s mosttreasured spots, this unique wooden pod has unusual skyward views and calminggreen murals to create a very quirky place to stay. Get cosy with the help of awood burning stove, underfloor heating and the wooden hot tub – making A SecretGarden an ideal little romantic hideaway in the heart of Kent.
