Meet the Owners

Meet the Owners: Treetop Hideaways, Lincolnshire

17 September 2024

Meet Jenny, owner of Treetop Hideaways – a collection of luxurious couples’ treetop hideaways, set around peaceful lakes and trees just outside the village of Woodhall Spa, on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds.

What first inspired you to create Treetop Hideaways?
My dream to create Treetop Hideaways started 15 years ago. I experienced a stay in the most beautiful treehouse in the middle of the African bush and was overwhelmed with the feeling of complete peace and tranquillity surrounded by nothing but nature. I started wondering if I could ever create anything as special. A few years later I was watching a TV series with my three young sons called Treehouse Masters, and this reignited the excitement.

We were really lucky to own 17-acres of beautiful woodland and lakes which had been passed down in our family for generations. It’s always been a very special place to us. This is where I decided to create the sanctuary I had dreamed of but to share the love and joy of our woodland, lakes and wildlife with others. This is when Treetop Hideaways started to become a reality.

Have you always been in hospitality?
I trained in hotel and catering at college. This is where my interest began. I also worked in hotels and eventually bought and ran my own bed and breakfast. Hospitality has always been an industry I enjoy. I then married and had three little boys. I used what spare time I had restoring a few properties over several years which fitted around my family life at that time. I knew I always wanted to return to hospitality one day.

What’s the best thing about being the owner?
Nothing brings me more pleasure than reading our guests’ comments and reviews. Every guest that stays at Treetop Hideaways enjoys it for the very same reasons that I do. Knowing I have created something special is so rewarding and makes me very proud of all that I have accomplished.

What’s your favourite feature of the retreat?
The beauty and tranquillity of the woodland and lakes has always been special to me. Seeing the treehouses in this setting is simply breathtaking.

Some more of my favourite features include:
The outdoor bathing on the elevated terraces with private views across the lake.
The rowing boats used to leisurely explore the meandering lakes with hidden islands.
The rustic, yet luxurious, design of the treehouses.

What do you love about the local area?
Woodhall Spa is a captivating village nestled within the heart of Lincolnshire on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. It’s celebrated for its rich heritage, natural appeal and timeless elegance. Woodhall Spa exudes a quaint atmosphere featuring boutique shops, restaurants, and cosy tea rooms. The unique “Kinema in the Woods” is a must visit. I’ve lived here all my life, and I love it.

What’s next for Treetop Hideaways?
We’re always exploring new ideas to enhance our customer experience. We have a few exciting ideas which involve celebratory options and promoting well-being. Watch this space…..!

If you couldn’t stay at your place, where would your holiday be?
I would always choose in a place where I can really switch off and surround myself with nature. I am happiest being peaceful – maybe with a good book and my loved one.

Sum up Treetop Hideaways in 3 words:
Tranquil, Romantic, Magical

If you were visiting, how would you spend a day at Treetop Hideaways?
After waking up to the dawn’s chorus, I would enjoy sipping coffee from the raised terrace overlooking the lake and wooded islands just watching the wildlife. I would then explore the woodland trails and maybe go for a bike ride. Followed by a picnic lunch by the lake.

On my return to the treehouse I would unmoor my private rowing boat and leisurely explore the twists and turns of the lake with overhanging branches where all sorts of birds and animals hide out. After that I would be ready to run a hot, bubbly bath and bathe alfresco on the terrace enjoying the views over the lake. I may even just relax in the sunshine on the terrace, high in the treetops, with a good book and simply switch off from the world.

As night closes in I would light the outdoor fire pit, pour a glass of wine, cook my dinner, and toast marshmallows. As I turn in for the night, I would enjoy the glow and warmth of the real indoor log burner and sink into my bed feeling relaxed, restored and at peace.
