If you’re the type of holidaymaker who craves cosy home comforts, whilst yearning to be more at one with nature, Welcombe Meadow is your personal paradise!
Dreamily nestled amongst 27 acres of peaceful, wildlife-rich North Devon farmland are two luxurious safari tents, Taw and Torridge… named in honour of two local rivers. Each dog-friendly tent sleeps up to six guests, making them perfect for stress-free, family-sized escapes.
Why stress-free? Well, not only will you be completely surrounded by big, starry skies and nature’s pure, ever-changing beauty, but you’ll also find that your every holiday comfort has been fully taken care of.
Charmingly styled with love, care, and painstaking attention to detail, your chosen tent will be filled with snuggly delights that include a huge leather sofa, a Smart TV, and downy beds with electric blankets. Not to mention a wood-burning stove; on hand to give your evenings a soft, warm glow.
You’ll have your very own toilet pod (well… who wants to stumble across pitch-black fields to a draughty communal loo?), plus a thermostatic en-suite shower, and a fully-equipped kitchen that means you won’t have to pack everything but the kitchen sink!
The treats and one-off experiences don’t end there, either. Spoil yourselves with a barbecue hamper – packed with fresh and tempting farm-local produce – and whip up a feast on the recycled washing-machine drum barbecue by sunset.
What else? Hire the site’s pizza oven for a laid-back al fresco banquet… or how about treating yourselves to the ultimate in fine dining, with a local chef whipping up a culinary masterpiece right there in your tent, just for you?

More information
Meanwhile, if curling up with a good book in the double hammock, or getting lost in the delicious sights, sounds, and scents of nature doesn’t appeal, the on-site games barn just might.
You’ll find the barn gainfully equipped with a full-sized pool table – that cleverly flips over to become an air-hockey table – along with table tennis, mini-football, and a ‘takeaway’ games box for some in-tent-ertainment!
Not that you have to stay in your tent all holiday long (though this may well be the most tempting option, it has to be said!) Taking a wander through the farmland will introduce you to some enchanting woodland and visiting wildlife… such as roe deer, buzzards, red kites, and foxes.
And with North Devon waiting to be explored, a short drive will lead you not only to independent shops, pubs, and restaurants aplenty, but the sweeping coast. Roll out your towels on world-famous beaches that include Woolacombe and Saunton Sands, or embark on a quest to discover the area’s many ‘secret’ coves… a perfect pre-lunch activity!
Things to note
Whole-site bookings can be accommodated for larger group celebrations, with suggestions for local caterers and suppliers – just ask! Up to two well-behaved dogs are permitted per tent, for an additional charge per dog. Please note that dogs must never be left alone in the tent, and must be kept on a lead around certain areas of the farm. A travel cot and chair can be provided on request.
