You surely couldn’t imagine a more idyllic location for a holiday cottage than Puglia. Set in the heel of Italy’s ‘boot’, not only is the unspoilt coast within blissfully easy reach, but you’re surrounded by the fresh pastureland, olive groves and sun-soaked landscapes that characterise Italy at its rural finest.
‘Trulli’ are agricultural cottages unique to Puglia; circular stone buildings with iconic conical roofs that dot the rural landscape. Located close to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Alberobello, Trullo Genna was originally constructed in the 19th century (you’ll see the year 1828 inscribed in the entranceway).
Now lovingly reconstructed to provide luxurious accommodation for up to nine people and finished to an exceptional standard, you’ll find Trullo Genna set over two cottages, nestled amongst four beautiful acres of fruit, nut and olive trees.
Trullo Grande is the main cottage, housing three spacious bedrooms – an ensuite master, a twin bunkroom and a double. After a delicious home-prepared meal (or a takeaway pizza if you prefer!), chat long evenings away in the comfortable living area with its open log fire.
Meanwhile, the smaller Trullo Piccolo features a cosy double bedroom in the trullo cone, along with a smaller bedroom than can take a couple of kids and a spacious bathroom.
Here you’ll discover a perfect blend of rural tradition with contemporary comforts that include underfloor heating, a swimming pool, a barbecue and a pizza oven – not to mention WiFi, TV and a DVD player (though with so much to see and do all around, we’re confident you won’t be needing them!)
Head outside and while away balmy afternoons over cocktails on the expansive stone gazebo with its Moroccan-style seating area, or take a refreshing dip in the secure 10m x 5m pool. If you’re a competitive type, challenge a loved one to a game of table tennis, or grab one of the board games thoughtfully provided and test your mettle!
