Set in a privately secluded hamlet in North Devon’s Sterridge Valley, The Lazy Mare is an idyllic rural glamping escape for two, tucked away by a barn in its very own gated, landscaped garden.

The charmingly converted horse truck also makes an ideal base if you’re in the mood to explore the naturally stunning local area, with a plethora of beaches, coastal walks, invigorating cycling routes, and pretty villages all within easy reach…

…that is, if you can just tear yourselves away!

Before you’ve even stepped inside, outside awaits some truly spectacular scenery, with views that lead your gaze towards Exmoor, and across the shimmering Bristol Channel towards Wales. Greet the sunrises over morning coffee on your balcony, or enjoy a supper at sunset in your gorgeous private garden.

You’ll enter your lovingly crafted, cheerfully decorated haven via the balcony, through double glass doors that you can fling open to bring the outside, inside.

Here you’ll find comfy armchairs to relax in, along with plenty of games, books, magazines, and a Bluetooth radio to help keep you entertained. Meanwhile, soft woollen throws and a log burner (complete with logs and kindling) promise to warm your evenings beautifully.

There’s a well-equipped kitchenette to help you whip up holiday feasts, with a gas oven and hob, and a small fridge freezer. Right at the end of the truck, your snug-style bedroom is furnished with a luxurious kingsize bed that was made for long, heavenly lie-ins!

You’ll find a small-yet-perfectly-formed ensuite to freshen up in, with a piping hot power shower and a sink. Eliminating those nasty long midnight dashes in the dark (this is glamping, after all!) just 20 footsteps will lead you to your private loo in the main barn.

There’s an array of optional ‘extras’ on offer, if you decide you’d like to be pampered during your stay…and why wouldn’t you? So, you could opt to have a delicious, home-prepared evening meal or graze board awaiting your arrival, or wake up to a tempting selection of breakfast ingredients and fresh juices – or how about an open-air film night by the firepit (naturally, with giant beanbags, popcorn and nachos included!). Why not treat yourself to a facial or perhaps reflexology, to truly help you unwind in style?

Of course, if you prefer getting out and exploring instead, you can do so in the cosy knowledge that when you come back, simple evening relaxation is covered.

Just light the firepit in your soft-lit garden, and toast a few marshmallows as you reconnect with the one you love under the emerging stars.
