An awe-inspiring, award-winning architectural masterpiece, featuring spectacular beachfront views out to Lake Pier and Poole Harbour.
  • Sleeps: 10
  • Bedrooms: 4
  • Bathrooms: 3
  • Minimum stay: 3 nights

The winner of the Royal Institute of British Architects’ coveted Stephen Lawrence Prize in 2017, The Houseboat boasts the ‘wow factor’ in buckets-and-spades.

Cleverly constructed to resemble two upturned boat hulls, the house is flooded with natural light from its fully glazed west screen – overlooking and showcasing Poole Harbour and the shimmering Lake Pier to absolute perfection.

With its four irresistibly cosy bedrooms, the house sleeps up to ten guests in exceptional comfort. Choose from two stylish en-suite rooms, each with their own private patio (ideal for morning coffee!). Then there’s another charming double, and a fun, four-person bunk room, both of which share the indulgent family bathroom.

When you’re not sleeping, you’ll be busy marvelling at the ingenious use of space and light throughout your Houseboat. Split-level and open plan throughout, each unique, comfy area of the house is connected by expertly crafted stepped bridges, staircases, and hallways – a big bonus for your whole holiday party no matter what their age – allowing each their own space to enjoy, separated by clever use of half levels but connected together in the space itself.

With barn like high ceilings, and made from a sophisticated palette of materials including a mix of exposed concrete, timber, and steel, there’s an imaginative sense of wonder throughout. Meanwhile, curved sofas, easy chairs, and accessories including well-stocked bookshelves and a speaker, mean you’ll feel perfectly relaxed and entertained.

(The piece de resistance has to be The Eyrie – aka The Crow’s Nest – a fabulous look-out space suspended at the very top of the house, complete with a squishy L-shaped sofa and a large TV).

The kitchen is fit for a high-end chef, equipped with a gas range, a large fridge freezer, and all the implements and utensils you could possibly need. But if you’re in the mood for some extra pampering, why not take advantage of the private chef hire available, instead? With ingredient shopping and the dreaded washing-up all included, you can simply concentrate on relaxing and re-connecting with your favourite people.

More information

What to do with your time? Well, when you’re not gazing in awe at your internal surroundings, you could head outside, straight into the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that is Ham Common, a protected wildlife sanctuary.

Water babies will enjoy splashing around at Lake Beach, or taking sailing lessons at nearby Rockley Point. On sunny days, how about a leisurely trip aboard the Dorset Queen, a local historic pleasure boat that picks up from Poole Harbour?

If all that sounds like a little too much effort, you could do worse than parking yourselves in prime position at the Lake Yard Club (which is just a short stroll away) and watch the boats sail in and out of the marina… as you cradle a well-deserved holiday tipple.

Things to note
