Just as its name suggests, The Hay Trailer has been expertly constructed from a reclaimed hay trailer, to become a handcrafted wooden cabin with an off-grid vibe and an instant feeling of home.

Perfect for those who crave seclusion amongst nature, the laid-back cabin is set amongst three magical acres of wild garden and woodland in the rural hamlet of St. Catherine, nestled on the edge of the Cotswolds and part of a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Sit out on your spacious, scenic deck with a cuppa – or a well-deserved glass of wine! – and breathe in the scent of fresh herbs, as you watch the local wildlife going about its day.

There’s even a wood-fired hot tub, set in its own private terrace (available on an optional basis, at an extra cost) to help you welcome the sunset and stars in style – with complimentary robes on hand to wrap yourselves up in afterwards.

Inside, you’ll find the light-filled, open-plan cabin decorated in charming country style, with plenty of light wood and soft colours to help you relax and unwind.

Sleeping up to three guests, there’s a comfy kingsize bed to curl up in, along with a cosy sofa bed. You’ll also have a flatscreen TV with Roku and Google Chromecast to keep you entertained, and there’s a well-equipped kitchen to help country-style feast preparation along.

The luxurious bathroom, meanwhile, boasts a double roll-top bathtub that’s perfect for filling with indulgent bubbles!

More information

If you’re venturing out, you’ll find St. Catherine curiously criss-crossed with public footpaths that lead to the loveliest locations – the iconic Cotswold Way in one direction, and the bustling centre of Bath in the other.

(Tip: make sure you’ve packed sturdy walking shoes!)

There are two friendly pubs within two miles of the cabin, both serving good food and both ideal places to hole yourselves up in for a lazy afternoon. Lace up your walking boots and work up your appetite with an hour of scenic hiking, or jump in the car for a 10-minute drive. You’ll have two more watering-holes to choose from in the nearby village of Marshfield, also 10 minutes’ drive away.

You can pay a visit to plenty of other local hotspots during your stay, too, from Castle Combe – otherwise known as the “prettiest village in England” – and National Trust Lacock, a mesmerising country house with a Tudor courtyard and a stunning rose garden. Oh, and don’t forget to ask the friendly owners for access to the ‘secret’ wild swimming spot just 20 minutes’ walk away!

Whatever you choose to see and do during your stay at The Hay Trailer, it can’t fail to be beautiful. Particularly when you’re admiring another blazing sunset at the end of yet another glorious day.

Things to note

Check in between 4pm – 10pm, check out by 10am. Well-behaved dogs may be permitted for an extra cleaning fee, to be agreed in advance. The owners live just down the hill from the cabin but will ensure you have privacy throughout your stay. Please note that while children are welcome, they must be supervised at all times due to the steepness of the deck. A travel cot is available for babies.
