Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Granary is a former timber-framed granary which has been lovingly transformed into a romantic studio for two. From the outside, it still looks very much like a granary, with its black timber cladding, tiled roof and staddle stones at each corner (essential for keeping rodents out of the grain!).

However, step inside and you’ll find a sensational blend of rustic charm and contemporary touches, and everything you could possibly need for a secluded romantic escape. With the granary’s original timber beams still in place, this careful conversion has retained traditional character while integrating modern creature comforts – including central heating, a television with both Freeview and Netflix, and Wi-Fi.

As you enter, you’ll find a dreamy sleeping area to your left, complete with a plush double bed topped with crisp white linen and a cosy throw. Fairy lights twinkle above for ultimate ambience.

To the right is the kitchen and dining area, featuring charming bespoke cabinets and a cute table for two – perfect for enjoying those romantic suppers you’ll be whipping up for each other. The kitchen also features every possible addition to make your stay easier, including an electric hob and oven, a fridge and freezer, a microwave, a toaster, a dishwasher and even a bread maker!

A beautifully arranged Welcome Pack greets you on arrival, packed with tea, proper coffee, fresh milk, biscuits, hot chocolate, and bread mix.  In the summer there is home made elderflower cordial in the fridge. Special breakfasts can be prepared, with lots of home made items which include home laid eggs, jams, marmalade, apple juice, granola and yoghurt, but they are charged separately. There is always a surprise pudding in the fridge – maybe a panna cotta or some home grown gooseberry fool.

The comfy sofa sits beside a floor-to-ceiling window, which offers views of the surrounding greenery and bathes the granary in natural light. Curl up here with a book from the small selection on offer, or unfold your map to plan your day’s adventures.

The Granary even features its own bathroom, complete with a toilet, sink and shower – so you truly do have everything you need to escape from the world in total self-sufficiency, and simply enjoy each other’s company.

There’s more to explore outside, too; the raised deck is where you’ll find an adorable bistro table for two, while your private gravel patio area in the large garden features two lounger chairs and a coal BBQ for making the most of the south-east sunshine!

Venture beyond your garden and you’ll find much to explore in the surrounding area, including the charming villages of Chartham and Chilham. Your visit simply isn’t complete without a trip to historic Canterbury, where you can visit the famous cathedral, enjoy a spot of retail therapy, savour sumptuous food in the many pubs and restaurants, or even hire bikes to explore on two wheels. And if there’s time, pack a picnic, grab the beach towels and head to the coast, where the delightful towns of Walmer, Deal and Sandwich await.
