Perfectly located in Monmouthshire, at the heart of Welsh castle country, you can set out on famous routes that include the Three Castles Walk and Offa’s Dyke Path with ease, all accompanied by that unmistakable Welsh landscape.
However, you may find that leaving The Cartshed proves a challenge all of its own.
Steeped in history, you’ll discover the stylishly converted retreat along an idyllic country lane that’s a mere stone’s throw from the ancient White Castle ruins.
Once inside, you’ll marvel at the quality of your expertly renovated surroundings, which include lime plaster walls and flooring, with high, beamed ceilings that give an elegant nod to The Cartshed’s former life.
Relax in the sumptuous open plan lounge, complete with cushion-covered sofas, soft pendant lighting, and a TV for cosy evenings in. There’s a double sofa bed for two guests, with a double bedroom and a cheerful bunk room also on hand for sound nights’ sleep after a long day of exploring.
Meanwhile, you’ll find the sleek, spotlighted kitchen area gainfully equipped with everything you need to whip up meals of every description. Just open a bottle of wine, and break bread with your favourite people at the dining table… the perfect way to begin your holiday.

Freshen up in the gleaming shower room, with its enormous ‘wet room’ style shower, and its stack of white, fluffy towels…
…and then it’s on to getting to know this amazing part of the world a little better!
Along with those famous trails, iconic mountains the Skirrid, the Blorenge, and the Sugar Loaf are close by, while slightly further afield lie the jaw-dropping natural delights of the Brecon Beacons National Park, the Black Mountains, and the Wye Valley.
If you’re more into browsing the local shops (or you just need a break from all that hiking) the bustling market towns of Monmouth and Abergavenny are well worth a visit, and there are more shops to weave in and out of in nearby Raglan and Usk.
There’s also a friendly, food-serving pub within two miles of The Cartshed… ideal if all you want to do is hole yourselves up on a rainy afternoon, or simply recover from your latest mountain ramble!
