A dreamy thatched-roofed retreat with high ceilings and elegant furnishings, secluded on the edge of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
  • Sleeps: 2
  • Bedroom: 1
  • Bathroom: 1
  • Minimum stay: 3 nights

Surrounded by picture-perfect countryside, you’ll discover The Bakery in the Devon village of Gittisham… or, “Devon’s prettiest village,” as Prince Charles himself once described it.

Characterised by rolling hills that lead straight to the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic coast, Gittisham forms part of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, for rural views that promise to soothe your souls just as soon as you arrive.

Happily, the scenery is just as lovely inside the single-level cottage, and with one well-behaved dog welcome to join you and your loved one, nobody has to be left behind at home.

Make a cheerful entrance into the light-filled hall, straight into the elegant living space, filled with stylish furniture and lovingly-chosen accessories for a relaxed vintage-inspired feel. Eye-catching art lines the walls and wooden beams adorn the ceiling, while alcove windows add welcome splashes of sunlight.

The bedroom, meanwhile, is a symphony of the countryside, with its green leaf-printed walls, lime headboard, and forest-green side tables… oh, and a downy, linen-dressed kingsize bed!

Just behind the white linen curtains are double French doors that overlook the garden, an ideal spot for morning coffee, enjoyed to a soundtrack of joyous birdsong.

Wind down and freshen up in the glorious en-suite, which boasts stylish paisley-print walls and seashell-lined windows, a walk-in shower, and an indulgent roll-top bath tub. Just add a stack of fluffy towels and natural botanical Bramley toiletries, and you’re all set.
