Although you’ll only be 10 minutes from the beach at Monterey Bay, you’ll feel blissfully secluded from the rest of the world at Mushroom Dome Cabin.

A rustic-yet-luxurious cabin with a ‘mushroom cap’ that cleverly doubles as a geodesic dome, this is the ideal place from which to keep an eye on nature.  Sleeping up to three guests, you’ll find you’ve got everything you could possibly need, and much more besides (flat screen movie-TV and hot air popcorn popper, anyone?)

There’s a cute bathroom with composting toilet, and when it’s time to eat you’ll have a choice of dining tables – one inside, and one outside on the huge, redwood-facing deck.

While you’ll need a car to stock up on groceries and explore further afield, you’ll have 10 acres of hummingbird-strewn land to ramble through by day (hint: bring your camera!)  

What to do later on?  With a huge selection of movies to choose from, indoor entertainment won’t be a problem.  Though on fog-free summer evenings, you could catch sight of the Milky Way, while if you listen very closely, you can hear the sound of the ocean waves in the distance.  Paradise indeed.
