A Gothic Victorian masterpiece and British heritage building, the incredible transformation of Leeming Methodist Church has featured on the popular and immersive TV show, Caroline Quentin’s Derelict Rescue.

Secluded in a picture-perfect North Yorkshire village, the church at Leeming originally opened its doors in 1903. Quickly becoming a much-loved part of the community, it later served as a soothing place of worship for nearby RAF personnel during the Second World War.

The owners’ vision was to honour the building’s history and unique original features first and foremost, whilst adding showstopping design-led elements that would transform Leeming Church into a heavenly haven for up to six guests and their well-behaved dog.

Such elements include a spectacular, handmade cantilevered staircase, bespoke oak cabinetry, actual throne toilets… oh, and a ‘secret’ bookcase door – activated by a Bible, no less – that leads to a hidden bedroom!

Every room features a perfect marriage of historic and cutting-edge modern features. The original Leeming Church pulpit has become a magnificent living-room centrepiece; flanked by English leather Chesterfield sofas that are perfect for relaxing on with a cuppa and good conversation. When you’re all talked out, there’ll be a 55-inch Freeview TV ready and waiting.

The vaulted designer kitchen, meanwhile, is a thing of beauty and wonder… in fact, there may be arguments about who gets to cook divine feasts on the sleek Bertazzoni Italian master range cooker! Surrounded by brass-and-gold fittings, opulent marble worktops, an enormous kitchen island, and well-chosen pieces of ecclesiastical art, the effect is pure culinary heaven.

Head up that incredible staircase to discover two beautiful attic bedroom suites; both overlooking the central stained-glass window. Here you’ll also discover delights that include a statement hand-polished copper bathtub, sumptuous mood lighting, and dramatic heritage features that include the original church trusses and wall-panelling.
