A nostalgic, lovingly crafted replica railway carriage with a hot tub, beautifully stopped amongst sheep-dotted fields in a North Yorkshire village.
  • Sleeps: 2
  • Bedroom: 1
  • Bathroom: 1
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

Crafted with care and attention to detail, Flying Yorkshireman is a replica Pullman-style railway carriage with a gloriously nostalgic ‘time capsule’ feel.

Overlooking a sparkling river, and the old Nidd Valley railway line in the North Yorkshire village of Glasshouses, the views from your carriage window are picture-perfect. Sit back and savour those scenes of rolling hills, sheep-dotted fields, and huge, ever-changing skies… without having to crane your necks as they whoosh past.

At a generous 24ft by 9ft, the roomy carriage sleeps two people in sumptuous comfort, with everything you’ll need for a relaxing break on board – and there’s even an al fresco hot tub!

You’ll discover plenty of reclaimed pieces, too, as well as evocative art and style that will transport you back to soothing times past. Think ‘old Hollywood’ painted murals, reclaimed British Rail lamps with soft-glowing fairy lights, and a clever ‘train buffer table’ to rest your drinks on.

As for modern-day facilities, you’ll find a well-equipped kitchen with a two-ring hob and oven (as well as plenty of tea, coffee, bread and jams!) and a refreshing shower room with plenty of fluffy towels to help kick-start your mornings. There’s no TV here, but with surroundings this spectacular, who needs one?

In fact, why not take that coffee out onto the furnished ‘platform’, and watch the sun rising in that vast Yorkshire sky?

If you’re in the mood to explore, there are plenty of beautiful walks to be taken in all directions, including the 38-mile Six Dales Trail – so in other words, make sure you’ve packed some sturdy footwear!
