Danyfan Glamping Carriage

A secluded, refreshingly off-grid railway car with first class views of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
  • Sleeps: 2
  • Bedroom: Open plan
  • Bathroom: External
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

‘Dan-y-fan’ is Welsh for ‘under the mountain’. It’s a very apt name for this charming glamping carriage nestled at the foot of Pen-y-Fan, the highest peak in the breathtaking Brecon Beacons.

In fact, Danyfan couldn’t be more perfectly located for a relaxing and romantic break amongst nature. Privately secluded next to a stream in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, you’ll not only enjoy spectacular mountain views, you’re a mere two miles from the historic market town of Brecon itself.

Inside your carriage, the views get even better! Rustic luxury is the order of the day, and you’ll find plenty of homely touches, upcycled furnishings and quirky accessories throughout.  Completely off-grid, you can relax in soothing comfort, safe in the knowledge that you’re making minimum impact on these outstanding natural surroundings.

Not that this means you have to compromise on convenience.  Solar electricity means you can keep your phone charged and your books read by evening (assisted by romantic candlelight, of course!) There is a gas-powered fridge and hobs and a little grill and all the kitchen essentials including, tea, coffee, salt, pepper and olive oil, are provided. You’ll also be welcomed with a gorgeous hamper containing homemade bread, brownies and locally-sourced provisions for your breakfast – a delicious way to start your break! A supply of hot water bottles and a crackling wood burning stove ensure you’ll be kept deliciously toasty.

If you’d rather cook al fresco, pull up a chair on the deck and prepare yourselves a sizzling supper over the fire pit. Watch the sun set over the mountains, then wait for the stars. This is a designated dark sky area and the night skies are spectacular.

Freshening up after a long day out is no problem too, with a piping hot outdoor shower and a compost loo set just 10 metres away from your carriage.

Now it’s time to explore! As you can imagine, mountain activities are in abundance here, with walking and mountain biking taking on whole new levels of jaw-dropping scenery. Ask Danyfan’s friendly owners for the best cycling routes around – they’re both very keen cyclists!
