Boasting 35 hectares of lush forest and shimmering lakes, Coucoo La Réserve feels blissfully far from ‘normal’ civilisation.

Secluded in the Oise region of northern France, you’ll feel compelled to relax and unwind just as soon as you arrive… though you may also be surprised to learn that this natureful paradise lies just an hour-and-a-quarter away from bustling Paris!

Along with a mini-farm and mile upon mile of mesmerising forest trails to explore, here you’ll discover 25 minimalist, yet wonderfully luxurious, cabins. Each one is purposefully spaced apart from its neighbours to ensure maximum privacy.

If it’s just you and the one you love, you’ll find the sumptuous Robinson cabins perfect for the ultimate romantic escape. Lit by soft-glowing candlelight, you’ll be cocooned in warmth and comfort, with a cosy bed inside, and a glorious al fresco living space that comes complete with a barbecue.

Take a refreshing private shower at the nearby eco-hut, or if you’ve chosen a spa-cabin, sink into your very own heated, chemical-free Nordic bath for an unparalleled evening of sunset-watching and stargazing!

Brought a few more guests with you? Elevated in the trees on their own ‘stilts’, the water-view Canadian cabins can sleep up to five people, with a fitted kitchen and a hand-crafted cedarwood shower or bathtub (spa cabins also boast those gorgeous Nordic baths.)

Your stay includes a delectable breakfast basket, packed with locally-sourced goodies for you to enjoy against a soothing morning soundtrack of nature.

More information

But if you’re really in the mood to treat yourselves, there are many more gourmet delights just waiting to be sampled… including Champagne aperitifs, traditional Picardy dinner baskets, and gooey fondues of Savoyard cheeses and rich chocolate!

Once you’ve settled in, you’ll find there’s plenty to see and do – if you can bear to leave the comfort of your cabin, of course. Start by saying hello to the mini-farm’s cute resident dwarf-goats, pigs, and hens, or see if you can spot deer and boar in the dedicated meadow nature trail… where wildlife-observation shelters have been built especially.

Take a long, languorous walk or bike-ride through seemingly never-ending forest trails, or borrow the on-site boat and explore those tranquil lakes at your own leisure. Meanwhile, the surrounding area is filled with different ways to while away your holiday time, from castles and museums, to horse-riding and treetop adventures.

You could choose to end an exhausting day out with some local gastronomic treats – such as the mouth-watering ham, cheese and mushroom crêpe known as a Picardy string, or ‘the beaten cake’: aka brioche cooked in the shape of a chef’s hat! Enjoy with lashings of jam, and a toast to your good holiday fortune.
