New to Host Unusual: Historic retreats, a grand treehouse and futuristic geodomes

Our latest additions to Host Unusual offer a little something for everyone, from echoes of bygone ages to futuristic visions. First, a medieval jaunt in a historic Devonshire castle, and then up to Scotland for a stay in a majestic former fort and abbey on the shores of the infamous Loch Ness. Then to a brand new treehouse and luxury canvas lodges in the serene Wiltshire countryside, and finally on to incrediblespace-age geodomes perfect for stargazing, nestled in a peaceful Cornish valley.

Imagine being teleported back to medieval times – 1106 to be exact! Well, while we can’t offer you time travel, we can suggest a stay at thefascinating Tiverton Castle,with its impressive history and charming features such as a 17th Century well staircase and gothic arched windows to explore. You’ll havea variety of options to stay in too, ranging from apartments inside thecastle grounds, to cottages built in the 1840s and set by the castle gate. You can even look through an arrow slit into the kitchen/diner – atruly historic escape from the norm.

The Highland Club

Embrace the fabled Scot spirit and embark on a quest to spot one of the most mysterious mythical creatures ever – the Loch Ness monster – at TheHighland Club, located at its southern shoreline. This majestic former fortcombines tradition and indulgence across 20 acres of grounds, where youcan enjoy croquet, tennis, fishing, boules, pool, sauna and steam, along with many other pursuits – without even leaving the club grounds. Many of the self-contained apartments afford views over Loch Ness or thestunning glen; a perfect location for romance, adventure, or both!

Into the heart of Wiltshire now to meet some of the UK’s original glamping pioneers. Mill Farm is a family-run affair and its owners have been welcoming folk to their farm since 2007.  Ten years on and it’s an exciting year as a brand new luxury treehouse– King Arthur’s Willow – joins the existing luxury canvas lodges for a unique experience with a touch of class, from the gorgeous outdoor sun deck with gas BBQ to the whirlpool bath, not forgetting of course those killer views over the Wiltshire countryside. Plus, being new for this year means that availability still remains if you fancy a late summer fairytale tree adventure!

There’s something pretty special about being able to gaze at the stars on a clear night from the comfort of our own geodome. Ekopod is set in atranquil spot in Bodmin Moor otherwise known as  ‘The Peaceful Valley’,close to some of Cornwall’s finest beaches. Treading lightly on the environment, the domes and bell tentshere are electricity free so you can unplug and take a break from the digital life. You may be glamping, but this does not mean you have to compromise on comfort and style; with king-size beds, woodburning stoves, rocking chairs, luxury throws and cushions, as well as that sublime outdoor shower for the summer months, you’ll be sure feel indulged in your ‘dome from home’.
