2017 is still the year of #ScotSpirit and there is so muchin the way of history, folklore, mystery and scenery to celebrate, so wethought it would be a perfect opportunity to introduce four very different newproperties to you. From contemporary brochs built into the hillside to uniquekata tents, eco-friendly log cabin style ‘bothies’ and a beautifully renovatedtower in the Scottish Borders, there’s no better time to explore!
 
The Brochs of Coigach

Brochs are part of Scotland’s architectural heritage; theseIron Age circular stone towers are found in the northern reaches and islands,now just remnants of the past. The Brochs of Coigach are modelled on thesehistoric buildings albeit with far more swish and luxurious finishings and aneco-friendly focus. The two brochs are spacious wilderness getaways which evenfeature their own saunas, and being set into the hillside they enjoybreathtaking views of the Northwest Highlands, with deserted beaches, wildlifeand rugged terrain all ready to explore from your doorstep.

Located just an hour from Edinburghand Glasgow, here you will experience an environmentally friendly eco-idyll ina stunning woodland setting.  The handmade tipi-style Nordic kata tentseach come with wood burning stove and can sleep up to 6 guests, with a hammockto enjoy the sounds of the trees and the twinkling stars above, plus a fire pitto complete your woodland experience, along with activities such as archery,bushcraft and Loch exploring by boat – a perfect adventure.
 
Loch Ken Eco Bothies and Glamping

Go off-grid, banish phones, TV and all the usual trappingsand fully appreciate your gorgeous Scottish surroundings at this lochsideeco-retreat, resting on the shores of beautiful Loch Ken in Dumfries &Galloway. Here you’ll have three ‘bothies’ to choose from (small huts once usedas farm/mountain refuges).  Otter Bothy has a unique living grass roof,Red Kite is the largest, sleeping up to 6 with a gorgeous outdoor seating areaand Red Squirrel, with its own kayak. Not forgetting that each bothy isequipped with its own wood-fired hot tub.  There are also hand-craftedyurts for those who prefer a more secluded experience in this naturalwonderland.

With a truly medieval look and feel, Aikwood Tower from theoutside evokes its historic background as a tower dating back to 1540s, infusedwith old tales and intrigue. The inside, however, could not be moresurprisingly luxurious and opulent!  Featuring 5 ensuite individuallynamed and appointed rooms, plus gorgeous receptions rooms such as The GreatHall with vaulted ceilings and a roaring fire, dining room, study and aKerry-handed spiral staircase, you’ll find the endearing quirks of thismagnificent building just grow and grow on you.
