Neon-Lit Rooftop Ice Skating is now a thing in London!

17 October 2017

Festive Ice Skating and London. The two are definitely not strangers, and the list of places to soak up the yuletide atmosphere and skate in the capital has long been impressive. From the Tower of London’s dry moat, to Somerset House’s beautiful rink, which for the first time this year will introduce ‘late skates’, not forgetting the Natural History Museum and its fairy-light adorned trees, which create a perfectly wintry setting, you could even spend your winter months doing a crawl ofthese great venues, thanks to the range on offer.

However one new kid on the block for the 2017 winter season creating quite a buzz, is the Skylight at Tobacco Dock, which from November 2nd will open its doors to become London’s first neon-lit rooftop ice skating rink and urban apres-skate bar! We can justpicture all the selfie opportunities already at this winter playground,as the venue has a perfect city skyline backdrop thanks to its locationin Wapping, East London, close to the city’s financial zone.

Not much of a skater? Fear not, as there will be a bar, an ice hockey penalty shooting game, street food stalls, a bar, a heated marquee lounge on a raised deck, a fondue station serving cheese pots – and of course, those killer views to take in. Did we mention there is also a bar?! What’s more, entry is totally free to Skylight, with prices for ice skating at just £10. Opening hours will be Thursday & Friday 5pm-11pm, Saturday & Sunday 12pm-11pm. Tickets are sold onsite only and are not available in advance, so just turn up, don your boots and away you go! Skating sessions are 45 minutes.

Boutique Barges offer two stylish holiday barges sleeping 4-5 guests each, which can be moored in one of three London locations. The Up Atlantic Roomis an extraordinary guest room for two, situated within an architect’s residence in South London, or for larger groups, the Harpy Houseboat (pictured above) –  London’s oldest houseboat, with majestic views of Tower Bridge – sleeps up to 8 guests in a prime position in the heart of the city.
