New to Host Unusual: Four Southern Delights

24/05/2017 New to Host Unusual: Four Southern Delights

Southern delights provide the theme for our latest property showcase, as we set our compass and get ready to explore some fabulous newly added properties in Dorset, Cornwall, Sussex and Devon.  Never too far from a gorgeous coastline, you can enjoy African-inspired safari lodges in stunning settings, a thatched roundhouse evoking the Iron Age and futuristic asymmetrical hideouts in a pure Cornish wilderness.

Middle Stone Farm

Take three expertly finished canvas safari lodges named after birds of prey, add a wooden cabin with alpacas, sheep and geese roaming freely around, throw in a perfect location for wildlife and birdspotting near Exmoor and the Quantocks and you have Middle Stone Farm!  This is an eco-glamping retreat for all the family and with its own farm shop with local produce, a truly authentic farm experience where you can come face-to-face with animals and nature. The lodges are generously spaced for privacy and are perfect for al fresco dining too, with spacious decks & comfy furniture.

Upcott Roundhouse

Looking for something rustic, beautiful and completely out of the ordinary?  Perhaps this Iron Age inspired hand-built roundhouse crafted bespoke from wood and thatch will be just for you. With a large open hearth as the heart and soul of this unusual dwelling, this is a perfect off-grid escape with an atmosphere of cosiness, romance and intrigue. It's a great place to appreciate life in simpler times past and with the rolling moors of Dartmoor and Exmouth as your surroundings, you will not be short of a sweeping panoramic view to complement the accommodation.  You can even book a course at a local blacksmith for a really unique insight into local tradition!

Concierge Camping

Concierge-camping-exterior-garden.jpg

Winning a string of awards since its inception in 2015, the premier camping experience of Concierge Camping is set within an Estate at the base of the spectacular South Downs in rural Sussex, near historic Chichester.  Raising the bar for its luxurious, showstopping lodges that could easily be seen in the wilds of Africa, these are either single storey retreats for up to 4 guests, or double storey for larger groups of up to 6 - and the family dog of course!  Bright and contemporary colour schemes are found throughout and the bathrooms are the piece de resistance - think luxury rain showers, high-end amenities and fully plumbed-in toilets; more luxury spa than camping experience!

Kudhva

Be prepared to witness something rather extraordinary, breathing life back into an old abandoned Cornish quarry. Kudhva can be described as 'architectural hideouts', yet for something so visually different, terms almost seem inadequate. The Kudhva (meaning 'hideout' in Cornish) are unique tripod-like structures designed by architects and come with linens designed by Sanna Annoka. Tensile tree tents also offer the chance to suspend above ground and feel that wild intimacy with the environment that we all too often miss.  Sunday sessions round the campfire, architecture courses, and reservoir swimming are all to be enjoyed, for the full immersive Kudhva experience.
