Vintage Vacations Airstreams
England / Ryde, Isle of Wight
Full description
A gleaming fleet of vintage Airstreams and caravans, furnished for comfort and secluded in their own peaceful corner of the Isle of Wight.
The original and best ambassadors of the UK Airstream, Vintage Vacations have created a laid-back slice of glamping paradise...one that's all but guaranteed to make you feel as though you've stepped quirkily back in time.
Twice earning the title of ‘Best Place to Go Glamping' from My Isle of Wight, you'll find Vintage Vacations Airstreams prettily secluded on a small working farm, with gorgeous views over rolling downland.
The large field is exclusive to Vintage Vacations' prized fleet of 18 Airstreams and caravans, too, so not only are there no nearby roads or houses to ruin the ambience, there'll be no non-retro caravans or tents spoiling your view!
So, what of the fleet itself, then? Well, you can choose from a selection of two, four and six-berth Airstreams, and there's also an impossibly cute pair of classic British caravans.
Each has been carefully and individually restored to its former glory, with fixtures like the original Formica and door handles left intact, while contemporary additions include cookers and soft furnishings to make you perfectly comfy throughout your stay. Whichever you opt for, the feel is soulfully ‘classic' throughout, with well-chosen accessories, and vintage fabrics used wherever possible.
The ‘vintage-est' of the fleet, the 1946 Spartan Manor is a special caravan-for-two that includes its very own cocktail cabinet, while the Spartanette trailers boast 33 feet of space, with full-size kitchen facilities and room for a travel cot (supplied free of charge).
Meanwhile, Doris, a tiny early 50s ‘Holivan', must be the cutest caravan ever to grace the Isle of Wight. She was also the very first caravan to be featured at the Chelsea Flower Show, and her esteemed guests have included John Hurt, of all people!
Each van is packed with onboard facilities for you to pack perfectly light, including kitchen equipment, towels and linens, and of course, plenty of vintage board games and classic CDs! You can even expect an onboard shower in your American van, while all vans come with their own cheery picnic bench, classic deckchairs, a sunshade, and a barbecue waiting for you outside.
Generous on-site facilities include a shower block with ‘proper' toilets, a shop-in-a-shed selling vintage accessories and breakfast packs, and badminton equipment.
As if all that wasn't enough, if you're in the mood to celebrate then why not hire the Party Marquee? Beautifully furnished, and decorated with twinkling fairy lights, there's even vintage tea party china available for you to use - so that's sparkling afternoon teas more than covered.
Cheers!
Things to note
Please check the inventory of each van for full details of on-board facilities. Regrettably, pets are not permitted. Please note that for safety reasons, personal awnings and gazebos are not allowed on site. A chemical toilet can be hired at a small extra charge - please ask in advance.
