Full description
An instantly welcoming, enduringly quirky Isle of Wight haven, perfectly positioned amongst a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Be Prepared: for a one-of-a-kind stay at the Scout Hall!

Originally - and specifically - constructed as a Boy Scout Hall, way back in the 1900s, The Scout Hall has since undergone a masterful restoration and a retro makeover that would make Lord Baden Powell's eyes pop.

Traditional materials and colours have been used to retain the building's historic feel, yet the sociable open space, retro furnishings, and the addition of swish mod cons makes The Scout Hall a superb hangout space...even for those who haven't earned any badges yet!

Nestled on the South coast of the Isle of Wight, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, no less, the whole family (including the dog) can enjoy incredible, far-reaching coastal views all the way out to The Needles.

It's a good thing, then, that The Scout Hall has been specially re-designed for ‘upside-down' living, with the colourful 1960s-style living space on the top floor to make the most of that awe-inspiring scenery. Doors lead you out to the deck, which is a spectacular viewing gallery (though there's a flatscreen TV on hand back inside, just in case you fancy a change of scenery every now and again).

Fabulously open-plan, light-filled, and full of cheerful vintage décor, you'll find a gorgeous ships' galley-style kitchen upstairs too, bursting with facilities that mean you can pack pleasingly light. Oh, and there'll be delicious homemade cake and fresh flowers to welcome you, too.

Head downstairs to discover four generous bedrooms, two of which are kingsize, plus a bunk room and a kingsize/twin room. One bedroom sports a rock ‘n' roll Elvis theme, plus its own little terrace for morning coffee. Tip: this room could be the one to bag first!

There's a private garden to relax in too, complete with seating and a barbecue; what better way to welcome the sunset in than with a sizzling supper?

What to do to fill the rest of your time? Well, this wonderful area offers some truly spectacular coastal walks, even if you're only in the mood for a stroll to the local pub - The Wight Mouse Inn, intriguingly named after an 18th century shipwreck.

The surrounding village of Chale was recorded in the Domesday book, and is well worth a wander to soak up its soothing and historic atmosphere. Or how about a visit to the oldest (and quirkiest!) theme park in the UK, Blackgang Chine?

However you decide to spend your time, there's plenty of adventure and relaxation to be had with a stay at The Scout Hall, so grab your favourite people, and your favourite dog, and prepare to set up camp!

Things to note

If you are bringing your dog, there is a small extra charge. Dogs are not permitted in the bedrooms, and must be kept on a lead whilst in the garden.

Tried and tested

"This place was amazing - such attention to detail in every room, cosy and relaxing, beautiful views from living area and bathroom. Brownies on arrival was a lovely touch. Would stay again."

"The Scout hall is an amazing place to stay in. Decorated throughout with a quirky vintage theme combined with scouting/guiding memorabilia. It is extremely well equipped throughout and the views from the deck are breathtaking. We also appreciated the little homely touches such as afternoon tea & fresh flowers."

"A sublime 5 night stay at the Scout Hut was had by all. Happy holiday memories created for the children and many childhood memories resurrected for the rest of us! The attention to detail in the property was much appreciated and enjoyed - there are guitar charms individually attached to the chandelier in the Elvis tribute room for one! Did I mention how cosy and warm it is too despite howling winds in October! Vintage Vacations provide an ‘experience' and memories to be treasured - if you want bog standard self-catering this is not your bag! We loved it."
