Converted barn and 1958 Airstream caravan, offering self-catering accommodation on beautiful working farm in South Devon.

Whether you dream of escaping to a gorgeous converted barn or a vintage Airstream caravan, Swallows' Flight offers the unbelievable choice of both.  What's more, you'll enjoy the warmest welcome, gorgeous scenery and no end of things to do at this South Devon hideaway.

Swallows' Flight, owned by the delightful Lucia and Dan, is found on a working Devonshire farm, half a mile from the picturesque village of Chillington.  This rural haven is only a five-minute drive to the seaside and the perfect spot for a romantic retreat or family getaway.

Number One at Swallows' Flight is a former Victorian granary, recently converted into homely accommodation for two adults and two children.  This stone and brick barn has been modernised beautifully to provide cosy lodgings, all the while keeping the building's original elements.  From the cobbled farmyard, a flight of stone steps takes you up to your first floor retreat - a light and airy one-level home. Number One offers an open plan living space which perfectly segues from one area to another, but still retains elements of privacy.

The living area is furnished with a comfortable sofa and armchairs, a wood burning stove and extra touches to create a warm and welcoming feel (the sofa pulls out to provide a comfortable bed large enough for two children to share).  A small-but-practical kitchen area supplies all you need for self-catering, as well as a country-style dining area.  Leading through, you'll find a luxurious double bed, topped with White Company linen, and a gorgeous bathroom, complete with a beautiful blue roll-top bath!

Guests can also enjoy the rooftop balcony with exclusive use of the hot tub, a beautiful place to enjoy breathtaking views and the stars at night.

For a retro twist on your stay at Swallows' Flight, why not opt instead for the Airstream caravan next door?  Sleeping two adults and up to four children, this 1958 vintage caravan is perfectly organised to provide everything you need for your stay.  The Airstream has been carefully restored to retain much of its original character, creating an authentic time capsule of mid-century Americana!

The seating and dining area, finished with blue seat pads and Union Flag-print cushions and blinds, converts to a large double bed for adults.  A separate bedroom with four small bunk beds is perfect for children.  The galley kitchen has been custom-built to provide a small sink, fridge, combi oven/microwave, gas hob and storage space in gorgeous wood units.  There is a flushing toilet/shower room on board, but guests also have use of further shower facilities in the shared Granary Barn.

The airstream also has exclusive use of its own wood-fired hot tub for extra indulgence after a busy day.

The Granary Barn is just one of the shared areas for visitors at Swallows' Flight.  You'll find a large wooden dining table and seating, as well as an honesty freezer, stocked with irresistible Salcombe Dairy ice cream!  In addition to the shower room, there is a utility room with a washing machine.

Take some time to explore the large garden and the farm's open fields.  Wander among monkey puzzle trees as old as the farm itself, take a peek at the Victorian conservatory growing kiwis and apricots, or head to the woods by the stream for a traditional campfire.  Lucia and Dan want their guests to enjoy every minute of their stay; from providing hampers filled with delicious local goodies to sharing their unbeatable local knowledge, they go the extra mile to make your visit a perfect one.

In South Devon, there's certainly no shortage of things to do (although eating, sailing and walking should certainly top your list!).  The popular towns of Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, Salcombe and Totnes are all within 20-30 minutes by car.  Nature lovers are only five minutes from Slapton Ley nature reserve and 40 minutes from dramatic Dartmoor.  And if it's beaches you're after, you're in the right place; from big surf to intriguing rock pools, from coastal walks to golden sands, there's a perfect beach for you.

Swallows' Flight is truly idyllic.  Whether it's the gorgeous accommodation that does it for you, the stunning views, the friendly hosts or the beauty of the surrounding area, one thing's for sure: it won't just be the swallows that return each year!

Things to note

No pets permitted, a cot may be added, highchair and wide selection of books and toys are available. The airstream can accommodate children up to 1.4m tall.

Tried and tested

"We had a fantastic few days staying at Swallows' Flight. Lucia and her family were great hosts and made us feel truly at home. The location of the property is perfect for exploring the South Hams, with Dartmouth and Salcombe close by. The local seafood is exceptionally good especially the crab. Really good recommendations for activities and restaurants! We will be back!"

"We had a really lovely three night stay at Swallows' Flight with our two small kids. The barn was really homely and Lucia had really thoughtfully put some toys in there for our kids to play with. The grounds were beautiful and it was the perfect base for us to explore the local area for a few days. The Bly's gave us loads of great advice about places to eat and they made us feel so welcome. I would absolutely recommend."

"We had the most amazing minimoon at Swallows' Flight! The barn was exactly how it is pictured, if not more beautiful in real life! It was both spacious and cosy with all the necessary essentials we needed. Lucy and Dan were great hosts, happy to advise us on all the best places to go to and gave recommendations on where to eat. The hot tub overlooking the countryside was beautiful and we cannot fault a thing. There was lovely personal touches that made the stay extra special. Thank you so much Lucy and Dan!"
