Spectacular cliff top art deco house with stunning sea views and period features.

How about being transported back to the heady days of the ‘20s and ‘30s, surrounded by opulent décor, art deco architecture, and unspoiled views of the English seaside?  Yes, it's possible, as this is exactly what Marine Villa: the Art Deco House promises, and more besides!

Located in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight, Marine Villa dates back to 1929.  With many original features, including wood panelling, parquet floors, a sweeping staircase and stunning stained glass windows, the house has been lovingly furnished with period pieces to evoke the style and glamour of the era.

Large enough to accommodate 14 adults and five children, Marine Villa is the perfect place to celebrate a special birthday, anniversary - or even a wedding.  Guests have compared the house with something from an Agatha Christie novel, and once you're settled into the splendid drawing room, it's easy to see why.  Leather sofas, a table that converts into a card table and 1930s artwork send you straight back to the days of Poirot and Marple.  There's even a walnut cocktail cabinet said to have come from the Elstree Studios' set for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

The kitchen, with its three independent ovens and large gas hob, is certainly sufficient for catering for large groups.  Sleekly finished in classic monochrome, the central island doubles up as a breakfast bar, making for sociable mornings over fresh juice and coffee, while French doors open onto the impeccably manicured garden, with outdoor seating for 18, a BBQ area and spectacular ponds.

Entertain like Gatsby himself under magnificent chandeliers in the wood-panelled dining room.  Every detail has been attended to in here for authenticity, from the period ornaments and glassware to an original 1930s clock still marking time.  Even a SONOS speaker has been hidden within a 1930s radio; it's just down to you to choose your soundtrack for the evening - some Benny Goodman or Duke Ellington, perhaps...?

Five generously sized bedrooms upstairs, and the Morning Room downstairs, which can be used as a sixth bedroom, provide ample room for everyone. Families are especially welcome at Marine Villa; the Family Bedroom can sleep five, and several of the other rooms have additional single beds plus space for a cot.

The ground floor Accessible Bedroom has been designed with the less mobile in mind (Marine Villa has been graded as Mobility Grades 1 and 2), with wheelchair access and an en-suite wet room, although older children may prefer this twin room, located away from their parents!

The pièce de résistance is the Master Suite however, with its spectacular circular art deco window above the bed, triple aspect views out to sea, and exquisite furniture, from the sleigh day bed to the luxurious chaise longue.

Owners Sharon and Laurence will go to almost any length to make your stay at Marine Villa comfortable, enjoyable, and most of all, memorable. With two of probably the Isle of Wight's top chefs available for hire, as well as caterers who will deliver pre-prepared meals, there is an opportunity to have a very special evening in. Marine Villa is also licensed for the sale of alcohol, and guests can pre-order magnums of fine wines and Champagne from Sharon's specially selected collection.

When you're not spending your days relaxing in luxury, the beach at Sandown Bay is a short step away, while cliff top paths are perfect for a morning walk or run.  Take a trip to Shanklin Old Village for charming thatched cottages, gift shops and tearooms, and of course, there is the whole of the Isle of Wight to explore from here, with its gardens, beaches and family attractions.

We always think that a special occasion calls for a special place to stay, and there is absolutely no doubt that the stunning Marine Villa offers exactly that. Over the past year, Marine Villa has hosted an 80th birthday family get together, a reunion for 8 ladies in their 60s who attended college together 40 years before, a very senior government minister and his family, several Lords and Ladies and people just like you, keen to indulge in one of the UK's most stunning period properties from the early 20th century.
