Dimmet
England / Braunton, Devon
Full description
A groovy Devon welcome awaits you in this unique 70s-styled designer seaside bungalow, for a luxury family stay with a retro difference.
‘Dimmet' is a Devon word, referring to that glorious half-light at the end of the day, the perfect time for a beach barbecue as the sun sets over the horizon!
If you love the idea of relaxing on the renowned beach at Saunton Sands whilst immersing yourself in authentic 70s style, a well-deserved break at retro Dimmet is just the thing.
Bespoke-styled by film set designer Marina Morris, Dimmet is an achingly hip time capsule, featuring a unique blend of contemporary luxury and vibrant colour. Set in an elevated position, you can enjoy endless views over Braunton Burrows and the sea in the distance, right from your holiday home... your escape from modern life has begun!
Gorgeously faithful to the decade of disco, this two-bedroomed beach bungalow is packed with genuine 1970s décor, accessories and furnishings (aside from the brand-new Naturalmat beds!) found in vintage shops and auctions.
Step inside - and take a wonderful step back in time. You'll find a large, friendly lounge and Rangemaster-equipped kitchen area, along with a dining table for six... the ideal spot for reminiscing over cheese and pineapple sticks!
The lounge is made for long conversation-filled evenings, with a log burner and plenty of squishy bean bags and cushions. Why not catch up on 70s classics including ‘The Good Life' or ‘Tales of the Unexpected', or boogie on down to the selection of LPs provided? If you're feeling in a competitive mood, there are plenty of old-school games to be found, too!
Discover the main bedroom at the back of the bungalow, facing the garden. Furnished with a genuine 70s bedstead and vintage wallpaper, it's a true retro haven... and you'll even find a selection of 70s dressing-up clothes in the wardrobes!
The second bedroom is at the front, and features two single zip and link beds along with plenty of storage for your very own 70s outfits.
The bathroom is built for indulgence, complete with a stylish Roca suite and a roomy bath with shower over. You'll find plenty of natural toiletries provided, along with fluffy bath towels to wrap yourselves in.
For dining with an al-fresco difference, how about spending some time in the south-facing garden with patio? Once you've listened to the soothing sound of the sea as you enjoy your sizzling meals, you may not want to dine inside again!
If you can tear yourselves away from your comfy time capsule, get exploring the local area. Braunton, found within an easy 10-minute walk, offers the best of both worlds, with its small village population and thriving centre filled with shops and eateries.
It almost goes without saying that the beach at Saunton Sands is a must-visit! Just five minutes' drive away, surfers will be in paradise with the international-standard waves (Dimmet even features a handy garage for surfboard storage!). Walkers will enjoy the South West Coast Path and Braunton Burrows, featuring the largest sand dune site in England.
For a cool stay that's decades away from the stresses of 21st century life, come and enjoy all the relaxingly retro pleasures to be found at Dimmet!
Things to note
Minimum stay is usually 7 nights (some shorter breaks may be possible Mon-Thurs or Fri-Mon - please check with the owner), please note that due to some steps Dimmet may not be fully wheelchair accessible, please contact to discuss requirements, no pets generally permitted except assistance dogs, no smoking.
