Beautiful glamping village in North Yorkshire offering an amazing range of unique off-grid accommodation and activities.
At Camp Kátur, guests are invited to discover their ‘outdoor happiness', and that's exactly what will happen at this fantastic glamping village in North Yorkshire! With accommodation to suit every age and preference, Camp Kátur is the perfect place to unwind and get back to nature.
Based in the 250-acre Camp Hill Manor Estate, equidistant between Ripon and Bedale, Camp Kátur makes an ideal getaway for couples, families and groups. It's not just the fantastic off-grid accommodation that makes this place special, but also an impressive range of activities to fill your days with fun. On this historic estate, guests have the chance to explore beautiful woodland by foot or by bike, play sport, or even choose from organised activities ranging from clay pigeon shooting to an aerial extreme treetop adventure!
So where will you choose to stay? With so much on offer, you might need some serious thought...
For larger groups wanting a glamping experience with a hint of luxury, the three safari tents - Zaniah, Jabba and Afia - are ideal. With private bathroom areas and real beds, you'll hardly notice you're in a tent at all! Zaniah sleeps 6 between a double bed and two sets of bunk beds, while Jabba and Afia offer an additional double sofa bed each, accommodating up to 8 guests.
Another great group option is Camp Kátur's magnificent tipi, offering accommodation for 4. Enjoy a taste of the Native American life, all the while enjoying comforts including rugs, cushions and a gas fire for warmth.
Tinker Bell and Emperor - the two bell tents - are a fun choice for groups or families. Sleeping 5 between a double bed, sofa bed and single camp bed, you'll love relaxing back in front of your campfire as you overlook the idyllic meadow.
For a storybook adventure, opt for one of Camp Kátur's hobbit pods - cute and comfy wooden houses offering cosy accommodation whatever the weather. Three of the pods sleep up to 4 - perfect for families - while Romeo and Juliet offers a romantic, fairy-lit hideaway for two.
For something completely different, book a stay in a unidome that fuses camping traditions of the past with 21st Century design. Meadow Hide sleeps 3 in a unique, oak-panelled dome, while Woodland Hide (sleeping 2) is a clear dome offering panoramic views of the surrounding woods - perfect for stargazing!
Two geodomes - each sleeping 4 - offer self-contained accommodation for glampers who want it all. A private toilet and hot gas shower, as well as a kitchenette area, add a little extra luxury as you gaze out to the world beyond your transparent dome.
Finally, Betty the 1980s retro caravan is nestled in her own little flower garden and provides retro-chic accommodation for 2 guests, complete with a double bed, gas heater, outside seating, fairy lights and fire pit.
All guests have use of the Glamping Village's brilliant facilities, including a fully equipped communal kitchen (with two gas cookers), an undercover communal seating area and even a large clay pizza oven. For a small charge, book an evening in ‘The Podfather' - a Norwegian woodland BBQ pod, the perfect recipe for a mealtime to remember!
Gather around the communal campfire, sing along to musical instruments and, in the summer, take 40 winks on comfy, relaxing hammocks. In case you need a little more help to unwind, visit the eco spa with its wood burning hot tub and sauna (there is an extra charge for this pleasure - but you won't regret it!). There's plenty to keep little ones amused too, including the Little Tinkers Toy Den, a mini library, and a wide selection of indoor and outdoor games to enjoy.
Camp Kátur is also pet-friendly, and well-behaved dogs are welcome to join in the fun. And, with stable accommodation on offer, you can even bring your horse along too!
There's plenty to fill your days with at Camp Kátur, but if you do want to explore further afield, you're ideally located for everything North Yorkshire has to offer. Museums, castles, local markets, racecourses and even theme parks are within easy reach, as are must-see towns and cities, including historic York and Harrogate.
It's easy to see why guests return time and again to Camp Kátur. It's even named after the Icelandic word for ‘happy', and rightly so, as one trip here is all it takes to find your happiness.
