Nestled in the heart of Anglesey is The Windmill - this truly unique holiday home for four boasts unique features, spectacular countryside views, and even a spot of TV fame.

The Windmill at Melin Newydd cottages (Welsh for ‘New Mill’) was built in 1833, and is found in peaceful Tynlon, near Rhosneigr.  However, after a ferocious storm in the 1920s, it was so damaged that it was closed and became a cattle shelter.  In this state it remained until 2006, when its current owner began a painstaking, yet exquisite, renovation to bring the mill back to life.  Featured on Channel 4’s Restoration Man with George Clark, The Windmill was finally finished in 2009 – and what a transformation!

Surrounded by green meadows, The Windmill stands proud in the Anglesey countryside – a pillar of white topped with a black cap. Through the wooden front door, you’ll come to the beautiful open-plan living area – a wonderful place to relax and enjoy.  White walls throughout create space and light, while the stunning slate floor adds luxury to your surroundings.

The hand-crafted kitchen area cleverly wraps the curved walls, where white units and sleek black worktops create a clean and modern country-kitchen feel.  A fridge, freezer, electric oven and hob, and even a dishwasher have been expertly incorporated, providing all you need for easy self-catering.

The adjacent living and dining area features a circular table for four and high-backed dining chairs, while comfy leather sofas surround the wall-mounted electric fire and television for cosy evenings together.

In the centre of the room is the bespoke spiral staircase with stunning wooden stairs and white spindles, taking you to the two bedrooms above.  You’ll find the first of these on the first floor – a relaxing double bedroom finished with a wooden floor, elegant bedroom furniture, and a huge original beam overhead.  The en-suite bathroom has a shower cubicle, a toilet, and a separate bath for total relaxation.

Climb the stairs again and you’ll find the second double bedroom, finished to the same luxurious standards, with a separate shower room and toilet.  This bedroom has one additional distinctive feature, however – a steep set of paddle stairs taking you up to the sensational third-floor sitting room.

Curl up on the inviting sofas under the pitched beamed ceiling, and take in views as far as the eye can see from the triangular window.  Or, if you don’t mind heights, step out to the balcony to breathe in that fresh, Anglesey air, and enjoy the scenery in three different directions.
