Full description
Indulge in a laughter-fuelled ‘sleepover' with your favourite people (and dogs) in an elegantly converted Martello tower that boasts magnificent 360-degree views of Jersey's longest beach.

Built in 1834, Kempt Tower was originally intended as a defensive stronghold against possible French invasion.

Named after Sir James Kempt, one of Wellington's Generals at the Battle of Waterloo, no detail was spared in the Martello tower's expert construction from Jersey granite, and it still stands proudly above the picturesque beach at St. Ouen's Bay, part of Jersey's National Park.

There's just one difference... instead of housing troops and storing weapons, the tower has been beautifully converted as a holiday retreat for guests who want to immerse themselves in the history, heritage, and unspoilt coastal scenery that Jersey is so famous for.

Sleeping up to 12 guests, with their trusty four-legged friends in tow, the tower's 2014 renovation is contemporary and stylish, with plenty of holiday conveniences to help everybody relax.

The ground floor, once home to assorted weapons and ammunition, is now the setting for a sleek, well-equipped kitchen and dining area. Simply take your place at the long, comfy dining table, and catch up with your loved ones over a hearty home-cooked meal and a bottle of wine (or two!)

On sunny evenings, you can cradle those after-dinner tipples on the spectacular 360-degree roof terrace, and watch the blazing sun melt slowly into the unspoilt landscape beyond.

When it's time to come back inside, you'll find a gloriously spacious open plan living and sleeping space on the first floor, with a wood-burning stove, plenty of comfy seating, and a flatscreen TV - ideal for movie nights and boxset marathons.

It's here that you can also choose your favourite sleeping space from the four double beds, arranged in fun ‘sleepover' style and dressed in fresh linen. Each double bed features a single bed above, so they're perfect for small families.

After a sound night's sleep (or a giggle-fest that lasts long into the night... your choice!) it's time to explore.

Known locally as ‘The Five Mile Road' - of which three miles are soft, golden sand - St. Ouen's Bay lays claim to being Jersey's longest beach. If you've brought your surfboard, so much the better, since you're also in one of the Channel Islands' best spots for riding those Atlantic rollers!

Take the dogs on a long walk through the dunes, visit the military museum, or simply head for one of the many restaurants you'll find in the local area, if you're not a fan of cooking on holiday.

However you decide to spend your day together, that amazing roof terrace will be waiting to greet you at the end, ready to show you some more of that outstanding scenery. Just add bubbles!

Things to note

Well-behaved dogs are welcome, at a small additional charge per dog. A cot is available on request. Please note there is no Wi-Fi.
