You’ll also discover a bubbling, nine-person hot tub in those huge gardens, along with an immaculate, furnished lawn area that’s ideal for curling up with a good book… and plenty of outdoor games for the kids.

Oh, and you might want to leave some time to claim your bedroom, as choosing a favourite won’t be easy! The first floor is home to a cosy double, a kingsize room with a separate dressing area, another king room with a bunk area, and a twin.  

Head to the East Wing to find a king room with day bed, a double with sofa bed, and another twin room, while the second floor houses a superking room, a double, and a single.

With mountain bikes available to borrow, exploring the local area will be easy. Why not pack a light picnic and whizz along the Tarka Trail to Instow estuary beach, or jump in the car to visit the surfer’s paradise beaches of Croyde or Woolacombe?

Otherwise, you could wander into Barnstaple and enjoy the delights of the village, before returning to your manor house just in time for that spectacular sunset.
