The Nut Plat Retreat
Two bijou boutique Living Vans, each in their own private space in the beautiful Kent countryside.
A stay in one of this pair of beautiful wooden living vans is perfect for those looking for a cosy retreat from the world. Surrounded by idyllic Kentish countryside, with only lambs for neighbours, you'd be hard pressed to find a better place to take your foot off the gas.
You'll find Nut Plat Retreat in an ancient orchard, in the grounds of an eighteenth century farmhouse, reached by a shady woodland path. It has two equally lovely choices of glamping accommodation, Ransoms and Bomford - both once sleeping wagons used by travelling workers. Each living van is completely separate from the other, and each has its own private facilities. Long retired from their life on the road, they've been spruced up, kitted out in twenty-first century luxury, and found their home among the trees and birds of Nut Plat.
Both are similarly decorated and fitted, with comfortable double beds and fold-out tables and chairs. Cosy bedding is supplied, so there's no need to bring your sleeping bag. A selection of board and card games will keep you occupied through the evenings, and both vans have wood burning stoves to keep you cosy on chilly nights.
Both vans are in their own private camp, away from each other and the rest of the world. Each has its own private compost toilet, and a safari kitchen, fitted out with a hob, cool box and all the cooking equipment you'll need to whip up tasty meals. Want to make things really easy? You can order a breakfast hamper full of local treats, a picnic lunch hamper, evening meal or barbecue pack.
Ransoms also has its own private wood-fired hot tub, with as many logs as you need to keep it warm whilst you relax back with a glass or two of wine!
Each camp also has a firepit, so you while away the evenings toasting marshmallows and setting the world to rights by the flicker of the flames. If you want to bring friends along, no problem, they can pitch a tent alongside the wagon. Kids and pets will need to stay at home though, as Nut Plat is home to many farmyard animals, and the River Bourne runs along the bottom of the camp making it unsafe for little ones.
Though it's only an hour from London, Nut Plat Retreat feels a long way away from anywhere else. Wake up in the morning, and you'll hear nothing but the rustle of the trees and birdsong. You'd be forgiven for feeling that you never want to leave the camp, but if you do, you'll be richly rewarded. The local pub is an easy five-minute walk away. Hikes and bike rides will take you through the heart of the Garden of England, with its lovely country lanes and hop houses. The market town of Sevenoaks is close by, great for picking up supplies or enjoying a meal out. Country houses including Knole House at Sevenoaks, Ightham Mote and Penshurst Place are all within striking distance too.
Nut Plat Retreat is a glorious little patch of English country paradise, with all the luxury you'll need to enjoy the great outdoors in comfort.
