The Bothy and The Shepherd's Return
Nestled in a perfect spot at the foot of the South Downs in the beautiful Sussex countryside, these two retreats are designed with relaxation and escapism in mind.
Located 20 minutes from Goodwood and close to the historic market town of Petworth, these two charming restorations were recently featured in Country Life Magazine and are just over hour from London, making them ideal escapes from city life and its bustle. Gorgeous beaches at The Witterings and excellent hiking spots are also within easy reach.
The Bothy started life as a barn, now masterfully converted yet packed full of original features such as the wood beams. Charming touches like organic ticking sheets, original wood-carved furniture and french windows all add to the authentic country house feel. The wood-burning stove ensures that it always feels cosy no matter what time of year. During the summer months the outdoor dining area is a perfect place to relax and appreciate the enviable views out to the valleys of the South Downs.
Its neighbour is The Shepherd's Return, a skilfully crafted bolthole modelled on the traditional huts that date back as far as the 16th Century and which provided warm shelter for Shepherds and sick animals. Inside the finishing is exceptional, with merino wool bedding, colourful hand-selected linens and country antiques adding to the homeliness to this off-grid escape in the Sussex countryside.
