East Tower Gazebo
The East Tower Gazebo - a property love story in which ancient times past meet luxury contemporary living, in the picturesque historical setting of Pembroke.
If the striking East Tower Gazebo seems familiar, that might just be because you've seen it somewhere before - on property guru George Clarke's ‘Restoration Man', first broadcast in February 2016.
This lovingly restored building, featuring its own enclosed private-walled garden and sleeping up to four people in two double bedrooms. You'll find this unique Ancient Monument living space atop the Town Walls of Pembroke.
The site is thought to date back to the 1600s, and whilst the recent restoration of the Gazebo has stayed faithful to the original architecture, it's also equipped with contemporary creature comforts to create a perfectly luxurious blend of past with present - and the perfect place from which you can explore and enjoy the peaceful beauty of Pembrokeshire.
The main entrance to the Gazebo is through its own private garden, via a coded door in the Town Wall. With the distinct feeling of entering your very own royal castle, you may want to pack a jewelled crown and sceptre just in case!
Inside you'll find clean-lined décor throughout, with windows and glass features perfectly positioned to make the most of natural light. Dotted around the Gazebo are pieces of contemporary art and antique portraits which reflect the property's marriage of history to the present day, along with comfortably plush furnishings that are perfect for relaxing on!
The spacious sitting and dining room features Italian limestone cabouchon flooring and panelled walls. For that extra touch of brightness, there's a glass walk-on roof light over the mahogany dining table - ideal for that summery al-fresco dining feel even on rainier days!
Next to the dining room is a hi-spec kitchen featuring a roomy central island for all-important food preparation. There's also a cooker, steam oven, warming drawer, hob and even a TV; basically everything you need to whip up your own personal feast to remember!
The glass spiral staircase leads to a beautiful summer room at the top of the Gazebo - why not kick your shoes off and relax on the chaise longue with that book you've been waiting ages to get started on, underneath the stylish antique chandelier.
If you'd rather sit outside and enjoy the view, French doors will lead you out onto a slate terrace with stone balustrade and a seating area from which you can enjoy a glass of wine or two, and perhaps even a game on the built-in chess board (wooden draught pieces are available). Stone steps will guide you from the terrace down to a large lawn area, featuring two ancient yew trees and a sunken patio. There's slate seating and a gas barbecue for those long summer evenings, and you'll find you can stay out chatting even after the sun has gone down, with outside lighting in the garden and terrace.
There are two spacious double bedrooms for when it's finally time to turn in, one equipped with a king size bed and en-suite shower room. The second bedroom has a double bed and an en-suite vanity basin with heated towel rail in a fully tiled bathroom.
If you're looking for ways to spend your days, you'll be spoilt for choice in Pembroke, with its nearby market towns and the remains of Pembroke Castle, a medieval setting that was once home to King Henry VII. Why not take a picnic along for the day and explore, before heading off to the scenic Freshwater Beaches?
The nearby village of Bosherston boasts two National Trust owned and maintained lily ponds (try the Freshwater Magic Walk, where you might just see an otter or two!). The surrounding limestone cliffs are perfect for climbing, with some of the most challenging routes in the UK, whilst those who prefer a more relaxing break will appreciate the nearby lakes, known for their tranquil beauty.
So come and truly relax in the East Tower Gazebo's unique slice of modern luxury, lovingly carved from ancient history.Things to note
