A glorious, off-grid glamping escape with a Gold Award for Green Tourism, for grown-up holidays on a farm in the rural heart of Devon.
  • Sleeps: 2 (huts) 4 (treehouse)
  • Bedrooms: 1 or 2 per unit
  • Bathrooms: 1 per unit
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

Feeling for all the world like a tranquil slice of rural paradise, Holly Water Holidays is home to a soothing selection of off-grid accommodation for grown-ups, in the heart of Devon.

The proud holders of a Gold Award for Green Tourism, friendly farm owners Iain and Jane take eco-friendliness very seriously, so you’ll find both the Shepherds’ Huts and the Treehouse powered by solar energy, heated by a crackling wood-burning stove…

…and you’ll even have your own private wood-fired hot tub to relax in (because who said going off-grid meant ditching holiday luxuries?)

The two Shepherds’ Huts, Oak and Bluebell, each sleep a couple or two adults, and you’ll find them both nestled in a sheep field that’s beautifully peppered with mature oak trees and bluebells (hence their names!) Rather wonderfully, the sheep have their favourite resting places under the trees, which makes this an irresistibly calming spot to relax in.

Each charming hut is home to private kitchen facilities, and a refreshing en-suite shower room with fluffy towels and eco-toiletries, so there’ll be no trekking to communal facilities. You’ll also get to curl up in a downy, lovingly hand-built kingsize bed, right after you’ve finished your sizzling sunset supper, and taken a dip in that private stargazing hot tub!

Constructed from locally sourced larch, and cosily insulated with lambswool, the treehouse is lovingly named ‘The Beehive’, after the wild honeybees that live in a nearby oak tree. Designed by Iain and Jane themselves, with help from an expert team of craftspeople, this is a truly unique and enchanting retreat for up to four adult guests.

Inside, you’ll discover two quirky kingsize bedrooms, a separate living area, and a well-equipped kitchen… along with a gorgeous al fresco dining area with a peaceful ‘tree-top’ feel! Here you’ll find a firepit that’s ripe for storytelling and marshmallow toasting, a pizza oven, and of course, that private wood-fired hot tub.

“We had the most wonderful time. Views are perfect and the hut is so cosy! We even had snow which was magical! Sat in the hot tub with the snow falling was amazing. We would like to say a massive thank you to Jane, you have been amazing, before and during our stay. Thank you for letting us stay a little later due to the white stuff! We will definitely be back and recommend our stay. Thank you again.”

“Our second time staying and enjoyed it just as much. This place is a little piece of heaven and a great way to re-charge your batteries. Amazing hosts that pay great attention to detail. Love it, love it and will be back many more times. Thank you for sharing your amazing hut with us – you’re the best.”

“This is our second visit. We came in December for my birthday and enjoyed it so much we decided it would be great to spend our mini-honeymoon here. Absolutely perfect in every way.”
