The Mirror Houses are a contemporary duo of master-designed holiday homes that reflect the breathtaking natural beauty of Northern Italy.
  • Sleeps: 2 (+2) per house
  • Bedrooms: 1 per house
  • Bathrooms: 1 per house
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights

You surely couldn’t wish for a more beautiful holiday setting than Northern Italy’s South Tyrol, which occupies a special position in the heart of Europe.  Spectacular natural landscapes are assured here, with the Dolomites mountain range providing a suitably imposing backdrop as you enjoy a glass of the exceptional wine this region is famous for.

Now you can enjoy exceptional architecture too, with a stay at The Mirror Houses, a pair of holiday homes set within an expansive working apple farm just a stone’s throw from Bolzano, the region’s lively capital.

Perfectly reflecting the captivating beauty of their surroundings, The Mirror Houses were designed by celebrated architect Peter Pilcher, a South Tyrolean native who trained under Dame Zaha Hadid (indeed, you can visit Hadid’s spectacular Messner Mountain Museum during your stay). Featured in Elle, Vogue and The Wall Street Journal amongst many others, these stunning houses have attracted some serious media attention, and it isn’t hard to see why.

Both houses, each one ideal for a couple, are true works of art, east-oriented and created from black aluminium, UV-treated mirrored panels and curved glass that frames and reflects their beautiful surroundings. Each house enjoys a private garden and a shared outdoor swimming pool, complete with self-service pool bar.

Inside, you’ll find minimalist décor that perfectly complements the natural setting outside, with a relaxing lounge, a well-equipped kitchen area, a stylish bathroom complete with robes and toiletries, and a cosy double bed. Sliding wooden panels can be drawn at night, while huge skylights make stargazing extra-special!

Stock up on groceries at the nearby supermarket if you don’t feel like going out, or take advantage of the breakfast buffet on offer at a nearby hotel. Yet those in the mood to explore can experience a great deal of local adventure.

Perhaps start with hiring a bike (there are plenty of bike stations in this region) and whizzing through your stunning surroundings? If you prefer getting by on two feet rather than two wheels then you’re in luck, as there are over 3,500 hiking routes throughout South Tyrol. Just be warned: choosing a favourite may be difficult!

What the guests of The Mirror Houses say

“Sabine was an amazingly professional host. Staying at the Mirror Houses felt like staying at a luxury hotel, but with all the care and charm of a B&B. The house itself is amazing. And the location feels beautifully nestled amidst the mountains and the apple orchards. Sabine was super helpful with activity and restaurant recommendations and was even able to get us a reservation on a particularly busy weekend. Would love to come back!”

“This is a very special property…nestled in an orchard and surrounded by mountains, this property will not disappoint. The hosts were kind and helpful and knew a lot about what the surrounding area has to offer for visitors. I highly recommend it.”

“We booked both mirror houses and it was an amazing experience, the design is top class and hospitality of their owners was outstanding!!!”
