When only the very best will do for that romantic break away, escape to the Leannan Boathouse - a beautifully converted former boathouse in the Angus countryside.
  • Sleeps: 2
  • Bedroom: 1
  • Bathroom: 1
  • Minimum stay: 1 night

The Leannan Boathouse offers luxurious self-catering accommodation for two on the shores of a tranquil fishing pond, tucked away deep in the country resort of Forbes of Kingennie. It’s just one of the many beautiful lodges you’ll find on this popular estate. With glorious woodland on either side, this historical waterside hideaway dates back to 1855. And with the added treat of two beautiful south-facing balconies, any modern-day Romeo and Juliet can relax back with stunning views for a stay they’ll treasure forever.

Inside the Boathouse, a wonderful renovation has taken place, remaining true to the traditional nature of the building while integrating luxurious contemporary additions. You’ll enter from the woodland into the first floor, where the stunning kitchen and living area offer a calming welcome after your journey.

Start off with a well-deserved tea or coffee in the fully fitted kitchen, where every feature has been carefully selected for the highest finish. With every convenience you would expect, including a dishwasher and washing machine, this bespoke kitchen exudes a distinctly modern feel, while the stunning stone floor and classic dining table ensure all is fully in keeping with Leannan Boathouse’s original fabric.

Unwind in the bright yet peaceful lounge, where original stone-clad walls feature alongside a period fireplace, a wooden floor and the modern additions of a plasma-screen digital TV and sound system. Cuddle up together in the wonderfully comfy leather sofa for two, or look out for fishermen casting their lines as you gaze from the upper balcony.

A staircase takes you to the incredible Master bedroom below. Beautifully finished in tranquil neutral tones, this must be one of the most relaxing bedrooms in Scotland. Lie back on the bespoke king-size bed and sink into the heavenly Tempur ‘body-shape moulding’ mattress – a combination that will keep you sleeping soundly all night long.

The haven of tranquillity continues into the en-suite bathroom. This light, airy, yet cosy nook features white-washed stone walls, a classy contemporary sink unit, and a magnificent ‘waterlily’ Jacuzzi – large enough for two.

Come morning, wake to the sound of birds in the trees and the sun spilling through the French doors which, in turn, lead out to the large lower balcony. This picture-perfect space really is the pièce de résistance at the Leannan Boathouse – ideal for dining alfresco under sunshine or starlight, or simply standing hand-in-hand to watch the world go by.
