  • Bathrooms: 2
  • Minimum stay: 3 nights

Dreamily positioned at the southern tip of Cumbria, South Walney Nature Reserve is a paradise for wildlife-watchers.

Home to a grey seal colony, nesting gulls, and richly diverse bird life, the rugged island also features towering dunes and spectacular sea views, for a stay that’s rich in scenic, windswept fascination.

Nestled at the bottom of the 19th century, Grade II listed lighthouse tower, Lighthouse Cottage is ideal for a family in need of a natureful escape, sleeping six guests in three ground-floor bedrooms.

These include a sumptuous kingsize master, with an en-suite walk-in shower, and a wall-mounted TV to watch before you drift off to a sound night’s sleep.

The second whimsically decorated bedroom features a skylight, with zip-and-link twin beds that can be made into a kingsize if needed, while the art-adorned ‘Red Room’ comes equipped with a kingsize sofa bed – when you’re not using the room as a chic second lounge, that is.

You’ll find the spacious family bathroom on the ground floor too, gainfully equipped with a large shower-over bath… oh, and there’s a utility room with a washing machine and a tumble dryer, both essential items after a long day exploring the nature reserve!

Head upstairs to discover the sociable living and dining space, complete with a warming woodburner, squishy sofas, and binoculars to help you spot the wildlife amongst the dunes a little better! Use the guidebooks provided to help you identify the many species you’re sure to see.
