There’s a lot of heart to be found at Top of the Woods – an impossibly soothing, enduringly soulful camp-and-glamp site located by the Pembrokeshire National Park.

Friendly owners Soo and Jon fell in love with this beautiful mix of wildlife-steeped meadow and woodland as soon as they saw it. So they got straight to work on creating a magical space filled with eco-friendly accommodation, relaxation, and reconnection – both with nature and each-other!

The ideal escape from hectic everyday life, Top of the Woods is the proud winner of a Green Key environmental tourism award, as well as being recommended by The Times as one of Britain’s “coolest places to stay”.

Find out why, by choosing from four types of eco-luxe accommodation, each one packed with thoughtful attention to detail, and spaced across 27 acres of gorgeously green space.

The 6.3m Nature Domes each sleep up to four guests, with a woodburning stove, contemporary furniture, and wildflower meadow-framed views of the National Park built right in!

The Eco Boutique Safari Lodges are ideal for families, each sleeping up to six guests amongst plenty of designer space and with electricity, private toilet and shower facilities.  Relax on your veranda as you listen to the morning birdsong with that first coffee of the day – bliss.

Meanwhile, if you prefer to unleash that inner frontier spirit of yours, the brand new custom built Pioneer Camps sleep up to four guests in two bedrooms with a woodburning stove to keep you cosy, while the Meadow Camping pitches are set amongst four acres of wildflower meadow (you can even hire a pre-pitched bell tent if you don’t fancy struggling with your own!).  For campervans, there are two 15m x 15m pitches with EHU.

More information

Top of the Woods’ philosophy is all about celebrating life in all its simplest, natural, and most pleasurable forms – so if you’re just looking for somewhere to watch TV, or plug in your hair straighteners, this may not be the place for you.

Yet that doesn’t mean you’ll be short on luxuries, as everything you’ll need is provided…from kitchen supplies, downy bedding, and Welsh woollen blankets, to solar fairy lights and firewood.  Generous facilities are provided too, including luxurious ‘wet room’ showers with skylight roofs.

Since a holiday is all about that lovely feeling of being looked after, why not head over to the Dutch Barn and enjoy seasonal hosted evening meals and breakfasts served by TOTW, and taste the very best of local with ‘pop up’ restaurants onsite throughout the summer holidays. (You can charge any devices here too, if you really need to!)

There’s plenty to do during the day, from meeting the friendly resident animals (Soo and Jon’s loveable dog Dylan takes a morning walk each day and is very happy for you to join him!), curling up with a book in the ‘Hide and Seek’ willow garden, following the Secret Waterfall Trail, or even learning a new skill such as bushcraft, or unwinding with some yoga.

All that’s left to do is gather around the crackling Courtyard Communal Firepit by evening, and share your holiday stories as you toast marshmallows under the stars.

Finally, it’s time to breathe out, slow down and revel in the natural life – something we all deserve every now and again!

Things to note

Two-night minimum stay. Dogs and extra cars are charged at a small additional fee.  WiFi is free with limited use. The site is mostly electricity-free (leave your hairdryer at home!) with device charging points available in the Dutch Barn. Enjoy a woodfired pizza every Thursday evening during the summer holidays.  Weekend food options are available, including breakfasts and evening meals. Disposable barbecues are not permitted.

What the guests of Top of the Woods say

“We arrived home today from a short break at Top of the Woods and I can honestly say that it has been an amazing experience. The 4 of us stayed in one of the bell tents and it was incredibly comfortable and roomier than I’d imagined. The owners were so welcoming and incredibly helpful and the site has everything a happy camper (or glamper) could possibly need. Facilities were always clean and tidy. It is a very family friendly place and there are stunning views and walks. I would definitely recommend Top of the Woods.”

“Can’t recommend Top of the Woods highly enough! Spent a wonderful weekend with friends in the Safari Lodges. Our accommodation was spotless, spacious and very comfortable, everything we needed was provided, including some games which kept the little ones happy when they’d worn themselves out running around the meadow. The site is gorgeous, all the facilities were clean and well looked after and the area is beautiful. Soo was so welcoming and helpful. My only qualm is that I came home without buying one of the beautiful blankets! Would love to come back and enjoy the peace and tranquillity again!”
“Oh my where do I start what an absolutely beautiful setting, I felt quite emotional sitting on the deck on our immaculate pioneer tent overlooking the stunning countryside views. Our tent was comfortable and the showers were clean and hot, we loved our BBQ night food, campfire stories, and woodland walks with John the ranger and how could I forget meeting the piggies! The secret waterfall was a holiday highlight for us, we all loved it and didn’t want to leave.”
