Iglu-Dorf, a unique igloo village found on seven of Europe’s most iconic ski slopes, was uniquely created by keen snowboarder Adrian Günter, with the intention of being first on the mountain each morning to find plenty of fresh flurries to snowboard in.

So it goes to follow that keen skiers, snowboarders, or those who simply love the enchantment of wrapping up warm and gazing at miles of sparkling white snow, will adore their time at Iglu-Dorf Zermatt, with igloos newly constructed every winter in a true labour of love, innovation and effort. Each igloo is beautifully decorated using a different artistic theme each year (Zermatt’s theme for the season 2017/2018 is ‘Mythology’).

Located on the ski slopes at an altitude of 2,700 metres, you’re guaranteed the most exhilarating views of the soul-stirring Matterhorn, the iconic ‘Mountain of Mountains’ that stands proudly on the border between Switzerland and Italy.

Zermatt is a car-free location where horse-drawn carriages and two feet are the most common forms of transport, so as soon you catch the magical mountain railway to the Iglu-Dorf, you will feel blissfully disconnected from stressful everyday life.

Once you arrive, you’ll find that each unique igloo is a testament to cosy creativity amongst the twinkling snow. Featuring a dazzling array of mythological ice sculptures hand-created by artists, you’ll feel as though you’ve just stepped into a fantasy world.

A series of corridors connect the igloos, which are privately secluded and available in an array of accommodation options. The corridors, igloos and public areas all feature low LED lighting, for a romantic glow by evening.

Along with a mountain restaurant and bar that’s perfect for enjoying the views with a mulled wine or fondue feast!
