Brockloch Eco Retreat
Boutique Eco accommodation in a cosy off-grid Bothy and romantic Treehouse set in abundant Scottish countryside, perfect for nature lovers.
Brockloch eco-retreat offers a stunning choice of eco-friendly accommodation, a treehouse and a bothy, on a farm in Scotland's rural south. The retreat is a wonderful escape for nature lovers: off-grid, sustainably built and surrounded by 190 acres of unbroken countryside.
The retreat has two accommodation options: a treehouse hideaway for two in the woods (featured on Channel 4's "George Clarke's Amazing Spaces"), and a timber bothy that blends beautifully into the grasslands that surround it.
The bothy is a wooden cabin built from sustainable local timber, insulated with sheep's wool. You'll find it up the farm track, past the bluebell wood, in an open green field. Sheep graze around it, and red kite, deer, badgers and red squirrels often pay a visit.
Inside the bothy, you'll be snug whatever the weather, with a woodburner keeping away the chill. Solar electricity means you can charge your phone, despite being off-grid. There is an open plan living room and kitchen with a double sofa bed, a separate double bedroom and a private bathroom.
Floor-to-ceiling windows offer amazing countryside views. In summer, open them up and relax on the decking.
The treehouse is designed as a cosy romantic refuge for two. A pretty wooden cottage on stilts, it sits up among native broadleaved trees. In the spring, the woodland floor around it is carpeted with bluebells. It is perfectly formed, both inside and out, with everything you'll need for a perfect weekend away from it all.
The treehouse is furnished with a cosy double bed and a table and chairs. A woodburner keeps it warm, and there is a kitchen area and separate bathroom which features a soothing sunken bath. When the sun is out, dappled woodland light shines through the windows. Above both the bath and the bed are skylights: lie back, relax and watch the stars.
Outside, you'll find a picnic table to enjoy al fresco drinks or dining.
Brockloch Farm lies surrounded by green Galloway countryside. The nearest town is Dumfries, but you'll feel a very long way from anywhere else while you're there. Enjoy long days out in the hills, walking and exploring the charming local villages. If you'd rather be on wheels, you'll find some excellent mountain biking too, with graded trails for beginners upwards. Within easy reach to the south, you'll find the wild and wonderful coastline, with its sweeping sandy beaches, salt marshes and fishing villages.
Whether you choose to stay in the treehouse or the bothy, you'll find Brockloch Eco Retreat is an exceptional opportunity to enjoy the best of the Scottish countryside. The retreat puts eco-values first always, built with sustainable materials, and perfectly designed to complement its surroundings.
