Located in Valtierra, Northern Spain - right next to the Bardenas Reales National Park of Navarra, in fact - you can be sure of plenty to see and do throughout your stay.

Each of the nine bioclimatic cave houses is individually styled and furnished to modern perfection, while remaining true to its ancient origins. Your chosen cave will come complete with a relaxing lounge area with a TV, kitchen facilities, and a barbecue-equipped garden.

Oh - and the site even features a Cave Bar, so if you're in no mood to cook, you won't have to travel too far for a delicious breakfast, or sun-soaked afternoon cocktails.

Whoever you're bringing with you, there will be a cave to suit everybody. Ground-level La Perdiz features two bedrooms and is accessed by a ramp, ideal for those with extra mobility requirements. El Alcaraván, meanwhile, is perfect for a small family, with its huge terrace and a secret cave passage that the kids will love!

There are plenty more cave houses to choose from, including El Alimoche, which has three cosy bedrooms, and a garden that features a stunning centenary olive tree. El Palomar is the largest cave, sleeping up to seven guests in four rooms, while if you're looking for rugged authenticity, El Mochuelo perfectly preserves the original mountain walls, which you'll find decked in naturally mesmerising shades of ochre.

If you prefer a more traditional stay, you could opt for the Rural Holiday Home instead, located close to the site and ideal for six guests.

Your accommodation taken care of, it's time to explore! You'll find the local swimming pool, together with Valtierra's bustling centre, within an easy five-minute walk. Senda Viva zoo and theme park is a short drive away, ideal if you're away with the kids.

If you prefer immersing yourselves in your amazing natural surroundings instead, why not hire a bike and choose your route? You can also arrange al fresco activities that include horse riding, jeep trails, and quad biking...

...or if that all sounds a little too much, you could indulge in a spot of wine tasting! Just five minutes from Valtierra is the Bodegas Marqués de Montecierzo, which offers a free guided tour (and plenty of delicious local wine to sample!)

By the end of your stay, you're sure to feel so converted to the delights of cave-dwelling, that the idea of a ‘normal' house will start to seem ridiculously dull!

Free entry to the Valtierra swimming pools for summer visitors to the cave houses for 4 nights or more. Pets are permitted to stay upon prior arrangement only. Check in is from 5pm, check out is 11am.
