Woolacombe Beach House
England / Woolacombe, Devon
Full description
A jaw-dropping, architect created Devon hillside retreat with award-winning interior design, a cedar hot tub, and mesmerising views out to sea.
Purposefully and breath-takingly positioned on a Devon hillside - part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - Woolacombe Beach House showcases the rolling landscape and award-winning beach to perfection.
Architect-designed, the dog-friendly house sleeps up to 10 guests in four bedrooms, making it the ideal retreat for families or groups of friends in need of an extra-special seaside break.
The super stylish house boasts not only cutting edge, award-winning interior design, but huge picture windows that frame the coast... so you'll be able to cradle a drink and gaze dreamily across the sea to Lundy Island, whatever the weather.
The entrance is ‘hidden' in a stunning wall of Shou Sugi Ban, which is a beautiful form of charred timber created from ancient Japanese methods. Once you find it and step inside, the full, heart-soaring beauty of both the house and its location is magically revealed!
Polished concrete floors, squishy seating and artistic flair are the order of the day in the sumptuous living area, and there's a gleaming showstopper of a bar that's ideal for home-mixed cocktails.
The exquisite, view-filled dining space, complete with its glass-topped table, is divided from the living area by a bespoke suspended fireplace... perfect for gathering around with post-dinner tipples. Meanwhile, we're willing to bet there'll be arguments over who gets to cook in the generous open plan kitchen, equipped with every convenience you could wish for.
Later on, there are four luxurious, lavishly furnished bedrooms to choose from, each one boasting en-suite facilities... so morning queues won't be a problem!
Three of the scenery-showcasing bedrooms come equipped with downy superking beds, while the fourth features four bunk beds that are suitable for both children and adults (though please note that as the top bunks do not feature safety guards, they aren't suitable for young children.)
In the mood for a spot of sunset watching? Finer settings than your private al fresco seating area, the green ‘infinity garden' with spectacular sea views, or the cedar hot tub, simply can't be imagined!
After a sound night's sleep, wander into Woolacombe for breakfast you don't have to cook, and to browse the local shops. There are some lovely pubs in the local area, too.
And of course, with that award-winning beach virtually on your doorstep, fresh-air activities like surfing, swimming, or rolling out your towel and getting lost in a good book, are ridiculously easy. Simply rinse off in the warm outdoor shower, and prepare for yet another glorious evening together at Woolacombe Beach House.
Things to note
Check in from 5pm - 7pm, check out by 9am. While children are welcome, please note that the house is not suited to infants under 2 years. The top bunk beds do not feature safety guards, and part of the garden is unfenced, so appropriate care must be taken at all times.
