thecabin@greensleeves
England / Lyme Regis, Dorset
Full description
A homely, handcrafted haven, surrounded by whispering trees and perfectly positioned for exploring both Devon and Dorset.
You'll find the bespoke-crafted cabin@greensleeves dreamily positioned at the end of a farm track in Harcombe Valley - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - surrounded by mature trees, open green fields, and a sparkling stream.
Though you'll feel miles away from civilisation, you'll be achingly close to both the seaside at Lyme Regis and the bustling Devon town of Axminster, making this a retreat to suit just about every holiday taste!
Sleeping up to four people, you can bring the family along, or rope in a small group of friends to enjoy this break with you. There's a cosy ground floor bedroom for those who don't like stairs, complete with a kingsize bed (or two singles if you prefer), while the mezzanine is also home to a comfy kingsize bed. You'll find the bathroom, handily equipped with a refreshing power shower, on the ground floor too.
Snoozing arrangements sorted, simply head for the roomy open-plan living space to catch up in comfort. There are snug sofas to laze on, and a wood-burning stove to tell stories around by evening (though if you get bored, there's also a Freeview TV, free WiFi, and an app-controlled DAB radio to keep you company).
Generous kitchen facilities include a double oven with hob, microwave, and an under-counter fridge, and there's a dining table and chairs for you to enjoy the fruits of your culinary labours.
On sunnier evenings however, you might prefer to grab a drink and head through the huge glazed doors onto the furnished decking. Why not fire up the gas barbecue for a sizzling supper while you're there, and take in some of that amazing country scenery by blazing sunset?
With so much to see and do in every direction, be warned: it won't be easy to decide just what you're going to do with the days ahead. You could start by taking an invigorating walking trail - both the South West Coastal Path and the Liberty Trail are easily accessed from the cabin.
Meanwhile, history buffs can explore numerous Iron Age forts including Pilsden Pen, or go fossil hunting at the famous Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Foodies are well catered-for too, with plenty of pubs in easy distance, and River Cottage close by for something a little more special. But you could also choose to indulge from the comfort of your cabin, with local produce from the nearby farm shops to savour.
In fact, it's unlikely you'll take in all the wonders to be found at thecabin@greensleeves in just one visit. That's a good thing - as it means you'll have plenty of excuses to return!
Things to note
Pets not permitted. As the cabin is set within a valley, be aware of uneven and sloping ground. Children must be supervised outside at all times. Extra logs can be purchased if needed.
