Full description
A boutique, wool-insulated yurt for a glorious rustic break in the North York Moors National Park, nestled on a pet-friendly stables ideal to bring your dogs or horses with you for a break.

Beautifully located in a picture-perfect village that's ideal for exploring the North York Moors National Park, Cottage Farm Stables is an idyllic country retreat that welcomes guests of all descriptions... including dogs and horses!

And if you're bringing your faithful steed with you, there's surely no better place to rest your own heads than the cosy, lambswool-insulated yurt you'll discover on the friendly farm site.

Enclosed in its own private paddock, and measuring a roomy 16ft, there's plenty of space to stretch out inside, with a downy kingsize bed and comfy sofa beds that sleep up to 4 lucky guests.

Decorated in a boho design-let theme, you'll feel completely at home, particularly when there are plenty of extra delights ready for you to enjoy, including a novelty ‘shed' shower, and a gas-powered pizza oven and smoking barbecue for epic al fresco feasts. They even provide marshmallows for toasting on the campfire!

Feel free to indulge as much as you like - you're going to need the fuel for the adventures of the day ahead!

The spectacular, wildlife-steeped surroundings are begging to be explored, whether you've brought your bike, your walking shoes, or your horse. Get lost in the endless charms of nature, or if you feel like a shorter stroll, take the scenic woodland footpath to the local food-serving pub, instead!

Alternatively, why not enjoy a fish and chip supper on the windswept coast, with Scarborough just 10 minutes away, and historic, heritage-steeped Whitby half an hour?

But if you'd rather not leave, no problem! Friendly owner Kate has seen to it that you can enjoy a selection of activities and experiences without having to stray from the comfort of the farm.

These include a quintessentially English afternoon tea, freshly made and delivered right to your yurt (picnics can be ordered, too), fascinating floral workshops, or exploring the farm and its history on a traditional pony and trap ride.

However you choose to while away your time at Cottage Farm Stables, you can look forward to a spot of magical sunset-and-stargazing, at the end of yet another day of countryside or coastal exploring.

Things to note

Check in after 4pm, check out by 10am. Two-night minimum stay. Open April - October. Dogs stay for free, horses £15 per night grazing / £25 stabled.

The perfect setting to regroup as a family, best mates or loved ones. We had THE best time! THE most gorgeous experience! We travelled up from Oxfordshire to stay in this gorgeous Yurt Friday to Sunday with our 4 and 7 year olds. The Yurt had been beautifully styled and with all the extra details we needed to ensure our comfy stay. I've never slept so well! We loved the stable kitchen and our adventures on the farm. Totally delicious fresh eggs for breakfast and then scrumptious fresh pizzas for our dinner to welcome us back from our day out and about. Thank you Kate and your wonderful family for the most amazing weekend! Everything about our stay really was so much more than we expected. The kids are still dreaming of your beautiful horses, lambs and doggies. It was like hitting a huge refresh button! All the love to you, your beautiful Yurt creation, your gorgeous village and your fabulous part of this world! Highly recommend this to anyone and everyone!"

"We have just returned from an amazing weekend stay at the Yurt. It was absolutely amazing in every way. The Yurt itself is beautiful, cosy and welcoming with many many home comforts. However, it's not just the beautiful Yurt you get there is a beautiful front area with a pizza oven and barbecue all with lovely night lights so perfect for nighttime dining and fun. Then you also get a super kitchen diner in a converted stable which has a full size fridge, kettle, toaster and hob. It also has all your crockery, cutlery and kitchen bits! There is also lots and lots of little extra touches but I don't want to spoil the surprises but you will not be disappointed. The Yurt itself is in a lovely little paddock so you can take your four legged friends, we took 2 dogs and 2 horses. The surroundings are perfect with amazing countryside in every direction. We went on a brilliant hack and dog walks. We also went to the beach with our ponies which took less than 20 mins to get to and there are miles and miles of beach to ride on. We also went to the nearby aquapark which is less than 5 minutes away this has loads on offer but we did the inflatable assault course; tiring but hilarious. We can't wait to come back to explore further as we only the scratched the tip of the iceberg. Kate and her family are wonderful hosts who can't do enough to ensure you have a fantastic stay."

"What an experience. Everyone with a horse has to go to the yurt. Waking up with your horse and your dogs in the same paddock is amazing. The family were so welcoming and made us feel at home. We made pizzas , with Kate's help and toasted marshmallows. The horse riding was awesome, not a soul in sight, and Filey beach was exhilarating. The huge bed in the yurt is the comfiest I have ever slept in. Ruston village is a little piece of heaven, and we are so grateful to have found it."
