The Yurt Retreat
A little piece of heaven - that's what you might think you've stumbled across when you arrive at The Yurt Retreat. Nestled at the foot of Castle Hill in South Somerset, two luxury yurts, two beautiful roundhouses and a romantic tree house await you, built on organic land and surrounded by rolling hills on one side and magnificent woodland on the other.
Exclusively for adults, The Yurt Retreat offers a rare chance to ‘experience nature in luxury', knowing every detail has been considered and attended to for a truly relaxing and comfortable stay.
Ideal for those who prefer glamping to camping, the spacious 20-foot yurts have everything you need for your stay. Each Yurt is individually styled from Scandi chic to rich vintage. Indeed, with mains electricity, bedside lamps, tea and coffee facilities, your own kitchen, electric blankets for some added luxury and a wood-burner in each one, you would be forgiven for forgetting you were sleeping under canvas at all!
Each yurt has a luxurious double bed with Egyptian linen and towels. Private bathrooms behind each yurt, complete with a flushing toilet, luxury shower and sink, mean you are totally taken care of. Plus comfy sofas are provided to guarantee relaxation.
The south-facing private decks allow you to make the most of the sunshine as you relax in this beautiful part of the country. While cooking dinner on the BBQ with a drink in hand or sitting round your own fire bowl, you might even be lucky enough to spot buzzards overhead, or the deer, pheasants and badgers that roam the woodland.
Also new is the addition of a woodland sauna, which you can book during your stay, so you can work on your wellbeing and relaxation without leaving the site - sounds pretty perfect to us!
If you do want to leave the peaceful haven of The Yurt Retreat, there's a whole host of activities on your doorstep, including horse riding, archery, foraging tours and zorbing! Only a mile away is the picturesque village of Hinton St George boasting the award-winning Lord Poulett Arms, a restored 17th Century inn serving delicious food and real ale. Crewkerne is two miles away, with its supermarket, wonderful range of independent shops and cafés, and station with direct links to Exeter and Waterloo.
A little further afield is pretty Lyme Regis, while Bridport, with its thriving art scene, is a must-see (visit Saturday's market for local produce, vintage bargains and even Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's products). For stunning beaches, head to West Bay, where fossil-hunters might even find their own souvenir from the Jurassic Coast.
Ultimately though, you may not find any reason to venture beyond The Yurt Retreat during your stay. With every comfort at hand, stunning scenery, and the opportunity to relax in near-solitude, why would you need to?
