Full description
Go blissfully back to basics, in a cute-and-quirky, off-grid Isle of Wight hideaway that's mere footsteps away from a beautiful sandy beach.

Prepare to fall head-over-heels in love with The Shack, a gorgeous little wooden hideaway in a magical spot that's close to bustling Cowes, and even closer to an idyllic sandy wilderness beach.

The proud winner of My Isle of Wight's coveted ‘Cosiest Cottage Hideaway' award for three years running, you won't want to waste the soothing ambience you'll discover here by switching on your smartphone! So, be prepared to leave all the distracting demands of technology far behind you, as you get back to nature in the nicest possible way.

There's a lot to love about The Shack, starting with its bright, cheerful interiors, peppered with quirky signage and charming vintage-style accessories that show plenty of loving attention to detail.

Eco-friendly to the last, mains electricity and central heating are replaced by solar panels and a crackling wood-burning stove (complete with a generous supply of logs), and you'll also find a gas-powered fridge in the kitchen.

There's plenty of hot water for the shower room and sink, and you'll find plenty of kitchen kit provided to help make your holiday life nice and easy - so you won't have to pack everything but your own kitchen sink!

Bedroom-wise, there are two to choose from; one downy double and one cosy twin, making The Shack an ideal family retreat.

Outside awaits your own private holiday haven, with a comfy table and chairs, and a tree swing and hammock for you to relax in with a good book...or a good afternoon nap in the sun. As evening falls, simply light the chimenea and fire up the barbecue for a supreme sizzling supper by golden sunset.

What to do by day? If you've brought your bikes with you, nearby Parkhurst Forest is perfect cycling terrain, while the beach is ideal for swimmers and watersports enthusiasts alike.

A visit to the vibrant, heritage-steeped Cowes is always going to be fun, but if you're after something a little quirkier, how about a day out at ‘The Land of Imagination' - otherwise known as Blackgang Chine, the UK's oldest amusement park?

Food-wise, you won't have to stay in if you don't want to. The Isle of Wight is quickly becoming known as a haven for foodies, so you'll be able to chow down on everything from gourmet fish and chips to indulgent afternoon teas.

After yet another hectic day immersing yourselves in all the charms of the Isle of Wight, isn't it wonderful to know there's a soothing Shack with all the comforts of home, just waiting for you to return?

Things to note

Please note that while you will have plenty of privacy, other accommodation shares the surrounding area. No pets or smoking.

Tried and tested

"A lovely weekend break. Everything was as we had hoped, we loved discovering all the vintage crockery, the woodburner worked impeccably (unusual in my experience, they often smoke at the initial lighting) and the banana loaf was delicious."

"We had an amazing weekend in The Shack. The view is so beautiful. The log fire kept us warm and cosy. The decor is just so cute".

"Had a really great stay at the Shack. Wonderful place to just chill out and get away from it all, but civilisation just a few miles drive. Lovely comfy bed, quiet location, and no light pollution all added up to best nights sleep we have had in a long time."
