The Rusty Bunk
England / Saint Mawgan, Cornwall
Full description
A gloriously rustic retreat in rural Cornwall, with complimentary cider tasting and the iconic surf town of Newquay on your doorstep.
If you were going to set up the ideal quirky retreat, you couldn't choose a more perfect location than The Rusty Bunk.
Not only is the rustic box van perfectly positioned on a farm that's set amongst stunning Cornish countryside, it's also on the site of The Bearded Brewery, a cider bar and bottle shop... at which you'll be offered a complimentary tasting session!
Oh, and did we mention that you'll be within easy reach of some of Cornwall's finest surf hotspots, with both Mawgan Porth Beach and Newquay just ten minutes away?
While The Rusty Bunk itself may look like a plain box van on the outside, on the inside awaits a cosy, eco-friendly wooden cabin for two adults.
Crafted with original attention to detail, you'll spot plenty of reclaimed furniture and accessories, including vintage-style blinds and ornamental cupboard handles, to help you feel like you've left all the stresses of everyday life far behind.
Meanwhile, huge windows and a ‘barn door' entrance allow light to flood cheerfully inside, and there are plenty of plants to help that soul-soothing ‘home from home' feeling along.
You'll find the cabin equipped with a downy bunk bed and plenty of snug bedding, with a glamping style kitchenette for romantic suppers, solar electricity, and a gorgeous log burner to make evenings in feel ridiculously toasty.
Where to freshen up? There's a private ‘shed shower' waiting for you just outside!
Maybe linger outside awhile, in your private garden or on the decking, enjoying those rolling Cornish country views over a glass or two of sparkling cider. Simply light the firepit to keep yourselves warm, as you watch the first stars appear in the clear night sky.
Awake to morning coffee, and perhaps a curious visit from a few of the farm's resident cows, as you lazily plan the day ahead.
Mawgan Porth is linked to both Padstow and Newquay via the breath-taking South West Coast Path... so you won't have to travel too far to find a scenic, gloriously windswept walk.
There are plenty of pubs and restaurants in the local area, too, and of course, if you love a day out at the beach, you couldn't be in a better place.
Yet with that amazing cider bar well within staggering distance, it could be that you'll need to set aside some recovery time (in other words: it could be wise not to plan too much next day activity!)
Things to note
Check in from 2pm - 6pm, check out by 10am. The cabin is not suitable for children or pets. Please note that solar electricity powers lighting and phone charging only, and is not suitable for any other devices.
